Gunfighter Moment – Larry Vickers

Saturday, May 28th, 2016

I just wrapped up the NRA show in Louisville KY and I gotta tell you I really enjoy meeting shooters and fans of my shows and products. A great time was had by all and it was especially important to me personally to see all the whole families and children visiting the show. I have been very fortunate to make a good living in the firearms industry and I remind myself regularly to treasure it and not take it for granted. Thanks once again to everyone who stopped by the Wilson Combat, Raven Concealment Systems, Aimpoint and Blue Force Gear booths while I was there to say hi. Be safe and I’ll keep driving on with training, shows and products. LAV out

In nearly every single class I teach these days, I see problems with factory ammunition (defects). Five years ago they were uncommon, today they are common place. It’s a byproduct of the amount of ammo being produced and consumed by the shooting community in this day and age. A word to the wise would be to both check visually and chamber check any self defense handgun ammo you trust your life to regardless of the brand.

Be safe and have a good one – see you at the range.

I’m gonna make this one short and sweet; when researching combat marksmanship trainers do your research – the industry is jam packed with scam artists. I see training scars and bad habits every class that originated from some ‘wannabe but never was’ instructors who are teaching stuff that is not only stupid but dangerous.

Do your research and if in doubt default to that resume. Nuff said – be safe and keep shooting.

Anyone taking home defense seriously needs to take a serious look at the firearm they plan on using, where they store it, the Ammo they have available for it, and realistic transport and reload scenarios. Take a very hard look at these as well as any other issues that are specific to your situation. This can help you decide what type makes the most sense for you. A perfect example is a home defense shotgun; depending on the weapon reloading it under stress may not be a good option. Think it thru and figure out what works best for you.

Gunfighter Moment – Larry Vickers

Saturday, December 19th, 2015

Given the current situation in the industry with red dot sights I get people asking me everyday on what Aimpoint optic I recommend.

Being a long time user of Aimpoints red dot sights and a brand ambassador for the company I have had a chance to use everything they make. If money is no object then I recommend the Micro T-1/T-2/H-1/H-2 series. They are the top of the line in my book.

If you are watching the budget then I recommend the Patrol Rifle Optic. For the money spent it is superb.

Hopefully this helps you pick what Aimpoint optic works best for you. In my considerable experience, and I am admittedly biased, Aimpoint red dot sights are without peer; very simply the finest money can buy.

    IMG_9877

Beginning immediately, Lipsey’s will be selling a limited run of Gen 3 RTF2 framed GLOCK 17 and GLOCK 19 pistols in two-tone grey. They come equipped with Vickers Elite sights and Tango Down mag release, slide catch, magazine base plates and grip plug with integral disassembly tool.

Larry Vickers continues to work with industry partners Wilson Combat, who created the Vickers Elite sights, and Tango Down, the manufacturer of all other parts. When asked about the second round of these special make-up GLOCK’s Larry said, “One thing we wanted to do this edition was take the feedback of customers and incorporate those ideas into this limited edition. The green fiber optic front sight and the grip plug with integral takedown tool are perfect examples of that. Combined with the grey color, these will set a new standard for unique configuration GLOCK pistols.”

The first Vickers Tactical / Lipsey’s Exclusive FDE GLOCKS were an overwhelming success and Product Development Manager Jason Cloessner couldn’t wait to launch the two-tone grey edition. “Our exclusive grey GLOCKS have been extremely popular. Doing a follow up run of Vickers Tactical pistols in grey has been at the top of our request list.”

Located in Baton Rouge, Lipsey’s was originally formed as a wholesale hunting and fishing distributor in 1953. Today, the company leads the firearms industry in the collaboration and distribution of exclusive firearms. An authority in NFA regulations, Lipsey’s also offers a robust line of silencers, short barrel rifles and accessories.
