MSM Hoodie RAW

Tuesday, November 6th, 2012

Mil Spec Monkey has always got something cooking ad this time it’s the MSM Hoodie RAW.

It’s a comfy upper-mid weight fleece with 4″ x 4″ loop fields on the deltoid zones. The main opening uses a YKK zipper with frontal muff pockets on each side. They’ve also integrated thumb holes. Made in the USA! The cut is athletic so MSM recommends going up one size for a loose fit and two sizes to roll baggy. Sizes Small – XXLarge in OD or Charcoal.

Infidel Caps Morale Patch Case

Monday, October 8th, 2012

Right after SHOT Show Infidel Caps had their first patch case made custom. They used it for several shows and then introduced it to their friends at Mil Spec Monkey who offered some design input. Then, they took it to Tactical Tailor and presented the idea to their design team. After a couple of more additions and design tweaks, they went into production. They are now very happy with the design of the Infidel Caps Patch Case, available at www.milspecmonkey.com.

When closed, the case resembles a covert weapon case measuring 15”H x 29”L x 1.5”W, a 3” x 5” Velcro Loop panel on the front and back for nametapes and other patches, dual zippers and carry handles. When unzipped, you find 3 zippered pockets, one larger and two smaller for paperwork, additional patch storage, etc.

When fully unfolded, it covers an area of 29” x 94” (2,726 sq in). Each of the 6 internal panels of Velcro Loop measure 15” x 28” (420 sq in) for a total of 2,520 square inches of useable patch space. Each case has a total of 10 grommets, 5 across the top and 5 across the bottom, to hang on your wall or on the edge of your show table. If you prefer, it fits quite nicely on any standard 8 foot table.

The perfect option for your growing patch collection or for those who sell patches at local shows. While numbers will vary based on patch size, Infidel Caps tells us that they have had as many as 484 patches on the panel at one time. Currently available in both Black and Coyote Brown.

The SSD Logo

Wednesday, August 15th, 2012

20120814-234432.jpg

Just after the site launched in 2008, Mil-Spec Monkey designed the SSD logo for us. Overall, it symbolizes the individual warrior through the traditional Davinci’s Vitruvian Man representing how art and science combine to outfit the Soldier blended with a 1960s futuristic feel in the form of the Olympic Sports Pictogramme-style which also alludes to the athletic facet of the Warrior. It holds the rugged individual as its core with a nod to the past and a look to the future. The font is Toaster.

TI-7 Tactical Buttstock

Thursday, February 16th, 2012

Mil-Spec Monkey alerted us to the new TI-7 Tactical Buttstock for AR-style carbines available exclusively from Accurate Armory. It looks like they have eliminated all of the edges that will catch on stuff and have included storage tubes beneath the sloped sides. Additionally, it features a “Rubber-Like” butt pad for a non-slip contact surface as well as a ambi socket for quick release sling swivels.

Available in Black, Flat Dark Earth, Olive Drab, Foliage Green for both Mil-Spec and commercial extension tubes. Monkey shared this photo with us and told us that you can also get the stock with a Flag print as well. Pretty cool. Overall, it’s another option for those who are looking for something different.

New Cap from Mil-Spec Monkey

Wednesday, February 15th, 2012

Mil-Spec Monkey recently released his latest headgear creation, the MSM CG-Hat Mesh RAW. Based on the original Cool Guy Hat DLUX which featured built-in tethered hearing protection, the latest model is a bit more streamlined and features Grey mesh panels to keep your noggin cool.

It’s a classic American ballcap design with a few modifications necessary for “tactical” use. Naturally, there is plenty of Velcro but it doesn’t overwhelm the cap’s appearance. The front panel is approx 4″ x 3″ and the rear is 3″ x 3″ with a 5.5″ x 1″ strip at the bottom for name tapes. There is even a 2″ x 2″ diamond up top in place of that annoying riveted button found on traditional ballcaps. Here, MSM runs you through the various caps as well as their new earpro system.

Currently available in two sizes with one unique color scheme, the Loden fabric panels combined with Grey mesh panels and OD Velcro looks pretty good. The sizing is important because it is a Flexifit cap so no floppy adjusters in the pack.
