Darley GRF Expo – Phantom Products

Thursday, March 21st, 2013

Phantom Products has been around for decades and their covert Phantom light is a standard issue light for Army and Navy aviation. They recently introduced a ResQ Lens to increase the versatility of the Phantom Light. From its very inception the Phantom Light was designed to provide sufficient light for the user’s tasks but to not give away his position through errant light emissions. They do this by creating soft light with LEDs inset behind a shroud as well as a dimming switch.

Unlike other lights, the Phantom Light does not emit light to the sides. In order to offer 360 degree emission, they’ve introduced the ResQ Lens which fits on the end of the light. With this lens in place, it can be seen from any angle for use as an emergency strobe.

You can select three different light colors, which are determined by the model number. The first color is always Phantom White, which only emits visible light, no infra red. It starts dim and can be adjusted to full intensity via a thumb controlled rheostat. Both the additional color and IR lights are also adjustable for intensity. For IR, this is a new feature.

Additionally, Phantom Products has added four selectable, flash patterns. The light is waterproof to 200 ft, shock proof and temperature resistant to 190 deg F.

Finally, the light features a mount that is compatible with a variety of load carrying systems. It allows you to adjust the light not only up and down, but also side to side.

Phantom Products Wins Big, Well Sort Of

Saturday, November 7th, 2009

Phantom Products, Inc., of Rockledge, Florida has been awarded a maximum $31,250,000 fixed price with economic price adjustment contract for flashlights, light kits, and transmitters by the Defense Supply Center Philadelphia (DSCP). Their proposal was the winning bid in a field of 63 responses which is pretty impressive.

Sounds pretty awesome but what does this mean? Their medical and other lights will be available on the electronic catalog and over the period of performance which lasts until 1 November, 2014, they can sell up to the contract ceiling. Additionally, they have already set the price for their lights over the life of the contract. So Phantom Products has won the opportunity to sell a lot of lights and I think they will. They build a great product and I have been using one for over ten years. My experience with Phantom products began due to the unique characteristics of their lights.

Phantom Products FLASH45 Medical Flashlight

Phantom has been an industry leader for years in providing low signature NVG secure flashlights. Their lights combine LEDs of different colors to produce white light. This means that you can find blood on a casualty. Along the same vein, map features aren’t washed out under a colored light. In a tactical situation an NVG equipped foe cannot detect the light. They have also taken the technology and applied it in other directions including landing lights. All-in-all, it makes sense.
