The SPD x CRK Sebenza 21 will be made in small batches in both the small and large sizes for each delivery to PDW.

The Design and R&D Team at PDW states:

“We’ve been long admirers of the Chris Reeve Knives family of products. Many of us have been long time owners and users of their knives as well. Their company Founder Chris Reeve invented the frame lock for folding knives and is considered the strongest and most reliable of the leaf type locking methods. In most ways, the Sebenza folders are at their core, embodiments of our brand’s design philosophy of sophistication through simplicity. The exclusive details found in the SPD Edition give our Sebenza 21s that extra finesse, industrial tool aesthetic and character unique to our brand. Without a doubt working with CRK has been a highlight for us in 2018 and we are stoked on the way these came out.”

The SPD Edition CRK Sebenza 21 in both sizes will debut on Friday, August 31, 2018 at the Gathering Knife and EDC Show in Las Vegas, NV and via their website, prometheusdesignwerx.com.

“Since first debuting these a year ago, the Rapide Field Short has quickly become our favorite for every day wear during warmer seasons. The newly updated Guide Cloth we’re now using also makes this short quite suitable for the spontaneous dunk into a mountain lake if the opportunity arises. And if it does, certainly don’t hold yourself back if you’ve got a pair of these on. The Guide Cloth 2.0 fabric totally moves with you, dries fast, and the mesh pocket liners drains water fast. We truly believe these will be the most comfortable field short you will wear and own. Just recently, one of us travelled from warm, dry and sunny Arizona for 7 days, then almost right back out for 5 days in hot muggy Georgia, and the one goto short was the Rapide in Guide Cloth. We’re glad that we can continue to build these in our home state of California, are looking forward to hitting the trails in the Sierra this summer, any other points out bound across our nation and beyond.”

8950ACB6-DAA4-43DE-B17A-57563FC8412A

The Design and R&D Team at PDW states:

“This workshop product we created was designed to address a need we routinely encountered. In particular when assembling and disassembling folding knives we wanted to have an isolated work surface to keep and organize small parts like machine screws, washers, back spacers, pocket clips to the larger parts like the handles and blade. Those neoprene mouse pad type work mats just didn’t do a good job keeping small parts organized or in many instances from rolling on to the floor. Our work mat has proven useful for many of our workshop to home tinkering tasks; from changing out spring bars on a watch, servicing a flashlight, and if you’re feeling really adventurous repairing your smartphone. You’re going to want at least 2. One for the kitchen table and one for the workshop/garage.”

The PDW Benchtop Work Mat will be available for purchase for $29.00 each, at 12 Noon PDT, Wed., 18APR18 via their website www.prometheusdesignwerx.com.

Prometheus Design Werx – Raider Field Pant

Sunday, January 21st, 2018

New for 2018, San Francisco based specialty adventure products company Prometheus Design Werx debuts their Raider Field Pant 5050RS. Built as a rugged field pant, this style is a non-cargo design in a clean utility appearance, built for the outdoors and today’s active EDC user in mind.

A total of 11 pockets to stash and organize as little or as many EDC items as needed. The tried and true US MILSPEC 5050 NYCO ripstop fabric is durable and breathes without weighing the user down. Dedicated EDC Tool Pockets, dual no-twist custom made delta rings for keychain-carabiner clip points, 4 welt pockets and double layer articulated reinforced knees round out these pant’s features. Produced with industrial grade triple needle stitching on all major seams. Designed, cut and sewn in California, USA.

The Design and R&D Team at PDW states:

“We designed and created a versatile and easily worn field pant style, that would be at home in the 4×4, trail, range, workshop and to the pub. The 5050 NYCO rip stop it’s built in has been a favored fabric that our Chief Designer has used for almost 18 years now. It’s almost a perfect everyday weight in variety of conditions, breathes well and holds up in the wilderness to the street. Our feature set is becoming more familiar now to our customers and suits today’s smart, well equipped back country EDCer. Dialed more towards outdoor use than our EDC Pant, the Raider drew its inspriation from vintage military dungarees and utilities. We reimagined what something like that might look today. The horizontal hand pockets in this design clears pack, to work, to 1st line type belts. While this run is in the 5050 NYCO rip stop, we plan on offerin this same style in a few different fabrics. This pant is current the PDW Staff favorite at work and in the field.”

The Raider Field Pant 5050RS will be an evergreen seasonal style for Prometheus Design Werx. They will be available in Dark Arid Earth, Machine Mineral Gray and Dark Leaf Green.

Prometheus Design Werx – Invictus MIL-LE DC Edition

Saturday, December 16th, 2017

Duty Folder Built for Military and Law Enforcement Users

53637138-6C51-4C75-A280-73B117DC264B

Prometheus Design Werx launches their v2 of their Invictus™ MIL-LE coil sprung folding knife. Designated as the “DC” Edition, this variant features newly engineered handles which signifcantly reduced mill time on the CNC during production to allow for a much more attractive retail price point compared to their v1. Designed and produced for the Military and Law Enforcement user in mind, this folder’s blade is quickly deployed with only one hand via a GID inlaid push button and backed by a sliding safety to prevent accidental activation. This build features a type-III hard anodized, aeorspace grade 6061-T6 alloy handle, subdued deep ride pocket clip, handle fullers & jimping, lanyard slot, and a high grade industrial tumbled finish on an all purpose 3.5” modified spear point 154CM blade. Produced entirely in the USA.

7F1F835F-423C-4294-B30E-4CD66472009F

The PDW Invictus™ MIL-LE DC Edition will be first available with a type-III hard anodized black handle with other options and combos to be available in the future.

The Design and R&D Team at PDW states:

“The PDW Invictus™ MIL-LE DC Edition is our signature, mid-sized folding knife pattern produced with our Military and Law Enforcement customers specifically in mind. An expertly built, edged tool made for those who serve and protect. As much as we were proud of the fully contoured handles in the previous model, we also had to take into consideration, the long term production costs making this folder a more tenable folder for duty carry. The new chamfered flat scale handle retains all the design and functional characteristics of the original, but with a great reduction of mill time on the CNC, we were able to reduce the retail on this DC model by over 30%. We think all of our core users in the MIL-LE community would appreciate that.

Precision CNCed and ground in the USA, our Invictus™ folder design is an instantly recognizable aesthetic and styling, characteristic of a purpose driven, lifelong design direction, and ethos. This folder is inspired by and takes its design cues from the tried and trued millennia old spear point blade silhouettes, to the tapered capsule shapes of streamlined arcs of aerospace, and the purposeful fluting and texturing of the modern machine age as found in high grade tools to precision barrels. This MIL-LE Edition has a fast, powerful coil spring for rapid one-handed blade deployment when seconds count. This folder is a high standard automatic for users that need speed and accessibility when on patrol and on duty. This is one of the finest production automatic folders currently made in the USA.”

The Invictus™ MIL-LE DC Edition is available to purchase by qualifying personnel by visiting their website, prometheusdesignwerx.com.

Tuesday, October 31st, 2017

Prometheus Design Werx founder has been long time a fan of the Swedish M90 camo pattern, saying, “from a design perspective the angular shapes and layout is a fascinating visual exercise in disruptive patterns.”

Years ago, he worked with a similar design, but it never cane to market. This is his latest effort and Wednesday (Nov 1st), PDW’s AG Cashmere Shemagh will be offered in this unique pattern.
