Hog Saddle – Multiuse Arca RC2 Connector QD Plate

The Multiuse Arca RC2 Connector (MARC) QD Plate from Hog Saddle is really two Quick Detach Plates in one.

It was designed to mount to both (1.5”/38mm) Arca-Swiss tripod clamps and legacy Manfrotto tripod heads that use RC2/200PL attachment plates.

The ultralight, Patent Pending design prevents horizontal movement with Manfrotto tripod heads, and accommodates for Arca-Swiss plate retention slots and Feisol retention plungers.

2018 USASOC Sniper Comp – Rauch Precision Tripod Concealment Sleeves

Shadow Tech is well known in Sniper circles for their HOG Saddle. They had quite a few wares for the Precision marksman but one thing which stuck out was the Tripod Camo Sleeves by Rauch Precision.

Available in MultiCam and Kryptek Highlander, these sleeves are made from 1000D Cordura with a no-slip backer. They are laced into place with shockcord which can be used to hold foliage or other items like a Kestrel. They also deaden the noise when Tripod legs are banged.

They are a made specifically for the PIG 0311-G Tripod, also from the makers of the HOG Saddle. However, they’ll make custom length versions if you inquire.

NTOA – Shadow Tech PIG 0311-G Tripod

Shadow Works introduced the PIG 0311-G Tripod for budget minded shooters and departments. The PIG Saddle Mount and a tripod is $230 or $138 for just the tripod.

In addition to the Interchangeable spiked feet, the PIG 0311-G Tripod features a Removable Load Bearing Hook. Additionally, the tripod will splay to 11″ thanks to the short center column. That rotating center column also allows you to direct mount a HOG or PIG Saddle.

Shadow Tech, LLC, best known for the Hog Saddle, has released a brand new product, The Kestrel ATI Wind Wrap. A good wind meter is an invaluable tool when precision shooting. In that regard, the Kestrel ATI Wind Wrap is an extremely useful accessory, as it serves as a retention device that allows the user to mount their Kestrel wind meter to a rifle sling, tri/bipod leg, or MALICE clip for immediate usage. The ATI Wind Wrap utilizes a soft mount which eliminates the effect rifle recoil has on a Kestrel’s internal electronics. Additionally, the Wind Wrap is made of Hypalon fabric, lined internally with a “special grippy material” which maintains grip in oily or wet conditions.

HOG Saddle Now Available in OD Green

During a small vendor show sponsored last week by US Tactical Supply last week in the NCR, for Federal LE Agencies, I got a chance to check out the new OD version of the HOG Saddle by Shadow Tech LLC.  It’s seen above and below with different rifles mounted and used in conjunction with the SS Loophole Sling.

For those of you unfamiliar with the MOD 7 HOG Saddle, it is standard issue for every USMC Sniper (NSN 1005-01-616-2719) and is in use with numerous other military and police organizations both here and abroad.  Basically, it’s a clamp (that won’t harm the rifle) that allows you to shopt from a tripod and leave your DRIFIRE in place even if you back away from it during long periods of observation.

Specs

  • CNC machined from a solid block of aluminum 
  • Black oxide stainless steel bolt and guide rods
  • Hard anodized finish (a resilient surface which serves as an excellent base coat for custom camouflage paint)
  • 1/4-20 stainless steel mounting threads and 3/8-16 back up threads
  • CNC machined torque knob assembly with retention button screw to prevent disassembly in the field (opens 1/4in wider than previous model)
  • Stainless steel noise dampening tension spring
  • 1/4 inch thick, recessed urethane pads specifically engineered to absorb rifle recoil and reduce muzzle jump
  • Anti-rotation slots to accept tripod QD plates that have video pins
  • Superior resistance to corrosion
  • Weight: Less than 16 oz

The photo above shows the HOG Saddle to the right as well as the stamped metal PIG Saddle to the right.  It was taken indoors so the color is a bit off.  It’s much darker in person, as you can see in the top photo.

In addition to the new OD color, it is also offered in Shadow Grey.

P.I.G. Saddle

Shadow Tech, LLC describes their P.I.G. (Professionally Instructed Gunman) Saddle as the AK-47 version of their popular HOG Saddle, in that it’s just as durable and reliable as its older brother, but at roughly a third of the cost. It’s constructed from steel with superior corrosion resistance and uses UV resistant pads – specifically engineered to absorb rifle recoil and reduce muzzle jump. The heavy duty torque knob is made from polymer and the P.I.G. features steel 1/4-20 mounting threads and 3/8-16 back up threads. The P.I.G. is manufactured in the USA.

HOG Saddle Issued NSN & Added To GSA

The Shadow Tech LLC HOG Saddle is now available through US Tactical Supply’s GSA Contract, GS-07F-0259N. additionally, it was assigned NSN 1005-01-616-2719 as part of the USMC Trip Pod Kit.

The Hog Saddle was developed by a Marine Scout Sniper and OIF Veteran as a clamp-style stable shooting platform. It is designed to be combined with a tripod such as the Manfrotto which is well known in the precision shooting community.

HOG Saddle – Then and Now

One of the cool things about being with SSD is seeing how products change over time. We received this photo earlier today from out friends at Shadow Tech LLC.

This is an early model HOG Saddle from 2006 next to the current MOD7 HOG Saddle. It’s pretty cool to step back and look at a wild idea turned viable product, being used in Afghanistan to kill Taliban.
