  1. Nick Pacific says:

Well, it catches the eye. The dual message appeals to both the proponents and detractors not only of Kel Tec but the type of product as well. As an advertisement it is effective. Whether or not it is in good taste, I have no first hand experience.

  2. Jeremy says:

I think that slogan pretty much captures the essence of Kel-Tec.

  3. Stone11C says:

And the Triple Face Palm Award goes too…

  4. d says:

Is it necessary? No, but it’s sterile and I like the taste.

  5. SecondGradeMath says:

They know their audience…gotta give them that

  6. RF says:

    So it’s the Ghandi gun?

  7. m says:

    Purpose built for California?

  8. SVGC says:

Took me a minute to figure out it wasn’t an ad for Bud Light Lime.

  9. Steve says:

I did a double-take, then showed my wife when I saw this in Rifleman this month. Later, I mentioned it over a phone call to my father when he asked if I got my issue later than usual.

At the time, I was like ‘who signed off on that?’ and ‘are they trying to discourage people from buying it?’ but you know what – I spread the ad via word of mouth without even thinking and it’s the only ad I remember from the entire magazine… well played Kel-Tec.

  10. DAN III says:

    Absolutely dumb !

  11. Non-operator says:

If only they could have sprung for Bear Grylls’ face on this ad.

  12. mark says:

Drinking urine for survival not recommended, if that is what they are alluding to. Urine is full of salts and other waste that your kidneys will have to work again to remove.

Although this is kel-tec so urophagia, or coprophagia, may be fitting for their target audience.

  13. cy says:

    Is that Joe Teti?

  14. James F. says:

I like it, future pitches begin…

“For those that like to eat lead paint chips”

    • Gerard says:

For those who couldnt resist the urge to shove their hand in the running blender, this rifle uses a stock with no pistol grip so you need fewer fingers

  15. Chuck says:

So they’re targeting light bear drinkers..

  16. Rob Law says:

Those Hollywood make-up folks are really skilled. As far as the copy goes…more power to Primal Preppers (you know the one standing knee deep in snow and complaining about their empty canteen) ? and then they have the most amazing idea.

  17. jrexilius says:

They seem to understand how to appeal to their target customer is the best I can say..

  18. Renaissance Marine says:

when i saw this ad in american rifleman magazine, i rolled my eyes. kel-tec’s ad agency was phoning it in. there were so many ways to get the message across. they relied totally on shock value. i am no prude. its not about that. its about weak ad writing. but i have often thought many gun manufacturers have weak ads. as a matter of fact there is actually a WORSE ad in that same issue of AR. look at page 29…

  19. Big_Juju says:

Looks like it worked. As PT Barnum said, “There’s no such thing as bad publicity.”

  20. Hubb says:

Somebody needs to tell that dude that you are supposed to use a cup to piss in first.

  21. Buckaroomedic says:

I would expect nothing less from Kel-Tec. Now; where do I get one????
