Rifles On the NY SAFE Act List – You Can’t Make This Stuff Up

It’s got to be like porn for those that want to restrict firearms that they sit around and obsess of compiling these crazy lists of weapons. Why bother? You put out a law with which features are restricted and that’s that. But instead they have this crazy obsession where they sit around and compile and update lists. It’s like an anti-porn crusader who is a sex addict. Unfortunately, the list is real and came from www.governor.ny.gov/assets/documents/RiflesthatAREclassifiedasassaultweapons.pdf.

  1. Matt says:

We are trying to fight it in NY but we need all the help we can get

  2. straps says:

Daniel Defense = GTG. Buy all you want.

    Daniels Defense = Assault Weapon.

    Idiots.

  3. Gregor says:

And good for Steyr that the just the Steyer AUG is such a bad assault weapon

  4. TV-PressPass says:

Gee. I don’t see the Tavor on there ๐Ÿ˜‰

  5. Warthog35f says:

I gave up on NY 5 years ago and will never look back I live in the free state of WV now and sorry for the newyorkers on here but you need to give up and go as well

    • Cymond says:

Bravo to you! Please go after Manchin *hard* the next election cycle. I spent most of my life in WV, but currently stuck in CA, which was comparable to NY until the SAFE act passed.

  6. Hank F. says:

Please note this list is not exhaustive and only includes some of the most common models

Theres a PSG-1 on there… if they’re getting to that, it’s getting pretty exhaustive.

  7. Jim Bob says:

So are lowers that are made from 80% lowers with no markings on them considered not assault rifles?

    • Bob D says:

An 80% lower receiver is not considered a firearm in the eyes of the ATF so hence is nothing more than a paperweight.*

      **Not legal Advise**

      • mike says:

Which is awesome until you complete the lower and becomes a firearm, in this case an evil assault weapon.

    • Cymond says:

I haven’t read NY’s law, but I believe it also includes a definition that covers any rifle with certain features, like a pistol grip. However, look at Thordsen Custom FRS-15 stock/grip and the Exile Machine Hammerhead grip. Both grips qualify are NOT a pistol-grip according to CA law, and may help keep your rifle out of “assault weapon” status in NY.

      • Matt says:

yes while this could be argued the law states detachable magazine and 1 feature so even if you swapped out for a monsterman and the state agreed with you your muzzle break and or threaded barrel makes it an assault rifle

  8. TM says:

I need a Zombie Defense rifle and I needed it yesterday!

  9. Dan says:

Wow, this makes CA look good in comparison. The CA DOJ is slow to “update” it’s “evil” firearms list.

    • Scotty says:

That’s because they can’t update the list. They passed a law not to update the list because of the fiasco that would ensure. TWO WEEKS was the running joke in California for a long time.

  10. Patrick says:

So the M14 and it’s variants are still good to go…

  11. Machina says:

Looks like the weapon ban list we have in Austria

  12. Matt says:

The Tavor would be legal as far as the ban list goes it has a pistol grip which is an evil feature, it also comes with threaded Barrel and removable magazine so its banned, so right now as far as semi auto in .223 we are left with the Ruger mini 14, and the Keltec Su16CA. We have a couple court cases and about 90% of the Counties have Passed resolutions calling for its repeal however the Antigun Politics of NYC and my own Legislature on Long Island dominate too much in Albany, Often the advice given is to move or vote with your feet but personally to me that is not economically feasible. I also view it as taking the path of least resistance and that is not something I can do and look myself in the Mirror

  13. Eddie says:

I too am a New Yorker and we have to vote these fanatics out of office. I do not want to move but I am seriously considering it. My entire family, aunts, uncles, cousins, have left this extremely liberal anti-gun state for Montana, Oregon, Washington. States that allow you to exercise your 2A rights. Man, I get sick to my stomach when discussing this issue, just totally disgusted.

  14. paul says:

I’m glad certain people can assert their right to marry whomever they choose yet we absolutely cannot assert our right to defend ourselves as we see fit. Amazing times we live it. Can you see where are countries priorities are now?

    • SSD says:

I was just in the UK for a week and I can tell you that I’ve never felt so naked in my life. Criminals are armed, but citizen or visitor alike, cannot be armed even with a lockblade knife.

  15. Nate says:

That is a pretty big list! One good thing about it though, it gives people in non-communist states a great selection to buy from ๐Ÿ˜‰

  16. SGT Rock says:

This is pathetic and disgusting. If Cuomo was governor during the Revolutionary War he would’ve surrendered to the British.

  17. Brackett says:

    I’m so glad I PCS’ed to Florida…

  18. Stefan S says:

Screw NY! Left 10 years ago. Your state voted for those libtards Schumer, Bloomberg and Cuomo!. Now deal with it!

  19. Goshawk_Driver says:

Well I guess my Colt Defense LE901 is safe… Damn, we need to get rid of these elitist assholes.

  20. Paul C. says:

Surprised no one has commented on the fact that Magpul is on the list. I know there are a few lowers floating around out there, but they aren’t exactly in the firearm producing business…..

  21. Nick The Brit says:

Its looks like my Christmas list! At least I have a good start to find my next rifle(s)

  22. reverend says:

Asshats. All I have to say.

  23. Wilbur says:

If you’re quick, you might be able to talk them in to adding the Daewoo Matiz or Lacetti to the list before they realise they’ve been had….

Please someone call the Governors office and ask them if a Daewoo Matiz in .223 is legal or not. Record the call and post it!

  24. sc1911 says:

Even though I take some comfort that every one of my evil, dark, malevolent rifles are banned by NY, Iโ€™m a bit disappointed that I possess but a fraction of whatโ€™s listed. Frack; another reason to lose sleep until the next gun show here in the Carolinas.

  25. Savingladyliberty says:

The only thing the gun grabbing traitors need is a short drop and a sudden stop.

  26. doug says:

It says that’s any weapon “manufactured” by those companies. Companies like century import a lot of their stuff
