Serket / Icelantic Skis – First Look

Colorado-based companies Serket USA and Icelantic have partnered up to create two custom ski models designed for military use. The two models, the Huntsman and Holy Cross, are handmade in Colorado of mostly American materials. The two exceptions are the metal edges, only available from Austria, and the rubberfoil only comes from Japan.

The skis are lightweight and feature two distinct dimensions and side cut radii with arctic digital camouflage top sheets. Both skis feature wider shovels and overall platforms that can more effectively support a Soldier and gear providing efficiency and flotation in rough or untracked snow.

The Serket-Icelantic skis have been down selected by the Marine Corps Arctic Warfare Team and are currently undergoing testing in the Sierras at the MCMWTC.

More information on the USA made Serket-Icelantic skis will be available on the Serket website soon – www.serketusa.com.

Make sure to put a bright colour on the underside.

Anyone who’s ever had to look for a ski after a launch excursion knows they’re hard enough to find already.

  2. FLC says:

Anyone know what binding configuration they will use?
    tele, or Alpine touring?
    Base, waxless?

  3. Serket says:

They are set up to use all variety of AT, FT, Tele, 3 pin cable, etc.
Bases are Petex – skins in the game.

  4. T2 Nav says:

Would love to drop in on some fresh Utah Champagne pow-pow on these bad boys.

  5. Austin says:

I’d love to see final dimensions on both pairs. Also, it looks like the Holy Cross has an asymmetric two-stage tip shovel? Is this just the camo top sheet playing tricks on my eyes or will play into skin attachment?

The Holy Cross has an “Early Rise Tip” – it is not asymmetric, but you are right, the arctic digi makes it look like that – no issues with skins.

    Serket,

While surprised the USMC requested skins, would like to see more about your submission. We have been loosely following their Ski system RFP’s as we try to define our own ski program.

    Thanks
