Remembering September 11, 2001

My children and I spent time today discussing the significance of that day. My children were all just kids, one not even born yet. As they have grown it seems as though our country has moved on. I still don’t understand how we can be in midst of the longest shooting war in our Nation’s history yet the average citizen barely knows it is going on. In my home we know all too well. Friends serve in combat and we do our bit here at SSD.

In the ensuing years since the Towers came down, I retired from the military and my children, one by one are answering our Nation’s call. My only hope is that by the time my youngest becomes a man, he will serve a victorious land at peace.

Honor those who serve and remember those who have given the ultimate sacrifice.
