Merino Demonstration

Mission Ready Equipment has posted a demonstration of the FR (no melt, no drip) qualities of Merino conducted by Brand Ambassador Kyle Defoor. The demonstration features an Icebreaker 150 top. We’ve long extolled the virtues of Merino and it is good to see someone begin to explain its advantages.

Yeah, with wool from New Zealand. Imagine how that feels, they used to make them in New Zealand, but now they’re “outsourced”. How shit is that?

It’s all well and good…until some enterprising Chinese manufacturer cuts Icebreaker out of the loop and sells it itself. It’s not like merino sheep can’t be raised in Mongolia to bypass all those nice eco-friendly Kiwi farmers. Hello Ling Ling merino Active Wear complete with a cute little panda as a mascot. Sold at a Target or Wal-Mart near you!

Wool has long been known for its flame retardant capabilities. It used to be the preferred base layer for race car drivers before firesuits were implemented.
