To call yesterday at Outdoor Retailer “somber” would be an understatement. Many of the vendors and quite a few attendees had contact with the personnel lost in the helicopter tragedy in Afghanistan.
Arc’teryx decided to do something positive and has set up the Special Operations Support Fund through PayPal. Funds donated will be given to charities that support the families of those involved.
Our warriors did not die in vain. Keep up the fight. Don’t let the bastards get you down.
Those interested in contributing to this cause should go to www.paypal.com.
Please also consider the Special Operations Warrior Foundation ( 4 star rating on charity navigator). For those unfamiliar they put the children of fallen operators through college with a full scholarship, they now also have an emergency fund for Special Operators wounded in need. It would be hard for someone to find a better charity as they operate under 7% and work hard for the children. I have been participating for ten years now and can personally vouch for their operation and efforts.

This isn’t a contest to measure which charity is better. Arc’teryx is taking the bull by the horns and showing some leadership in the outdoor industry. There are plenty of great charities, but this article is about their effort. If there are other organizations seeking coverage. Contact us.
Did not mean for my comments to be perceived as such, Arc’teryx is a wonderful company and good on them! I know many folks read your blog and many of us just want to do right by those great Americans.
Best…
