You Never Know Where They’ll Show Up

DSCN1576

This time, the KCRF patch has found its way to Roscoff, Brittany, Finistère, France. The Sherman tank is located near a former WWII museum. Roughly 50 km south of the museum, a tank battle between US and German forces was reported to have taken place.

Are there plans to restore that tank? I’d hate to see it remain there for.. ever I guess. XD

According what I know, I don’t think so as the tank was there when the museum was active and remain there when it closed…
Restore it would be great for sure.

  2. Patrick says:

    take it to Bastogne.

I do believe that’s a M36 “Jackson” tank destroyer armed with a 90 mm gun, not a M4 Sherman tank. Saw one in Republika Srpska, Bosnia many years ago, not long after the civil war ended, had been used in the fighting, but ammo resupply was real difficult for that odd calibre round.

    • Aidan says:

Nope its just an M4A1 with a 76mm gun. Jackson had an open topped turret for the most part.

  4. Patrick says:

It’s the British 76mm gun variant named the firefly.

    • Terry B. says:

      Patrick,
The British version had a 17 pounder gun (not US 76) with a much different turret profile. Aiden is right.

Next time I am around it, I will check closer !
