US Patriot is proud to be the tactical sponsor for the 50th Anniversary Drill Sergeant of the Year competition. We have been a sponsor since our inception and honored to be involved in this competition that takes place every year in our backyard – Fort Jackson, SC. Fort Jackson is the home of the Drill Sergeant Academy and where soldiers earn the brown hat. Not only that, but the best of the Army come back every year to prove who’s the best on the trail.

For five days, six of the Army’s best training NCO’s from Fort Jackson, Fort Leonard Wood, Fort Sill, Fort Benning and the Reserves compete in a grueling course to prove who is the best of the best. The winning Active duty Drill receives the Stephen Ailes Award which began in 1969. The winning Reserve Drill receives the Ralph Haines Jr. Award.

This year, US Patriot has partnered with FN (Fabrique Nationale) to present a surprise award to the winners. US Patriot and FN presented Active Duty DSOY SSG Jonathan W. Miller from Fort Leonard Wood an FN 15 with a commemorative 50th Anniversary Drill Sergeant logo on the magazine well. We were also honored to present Army AIT PSOY SFC Thomas A. Russel Jr. from Fort Sill and Reserve DSOY SSG Christopher G. Croslin from the 95th Division with commemorative 50th Anniversary engraved FNX .45 caliber pistols. US Patriot is a company based in Columbia, SC (home to Fort Jackson) and we are proud to partner with FN, the primary manufacturer of DOD small arms, making their weapons right here in Columbia, SC.

One can’t help noticing that the first row in the first pic looks like some backwater state highway patrol unit. Something really needs to be done about the Army’s idea of a uniform.

Drill Sergeant of the year competition, congrats to the winners. Please put your Drill Sergeant Identification badge on the correct pocket

The more I look at the picture of the winners the more I wonder if an inspection was included in the competition. One of the “winners” has his ribbons in the incorrect order of precedence. It might be a good idea to take the pictures down. I’m disappointed in the Drill Sergeant of the year competition, or at least the winners.

Hope those firearms were registered with the Provost before being presented. I wouldn’t trust Drill Sergeants with unloaded weapons anyways after receiving new privates the past few years.

  5. Nate says:

Salute to the men in camo and combat boots!
