Ask SSD – Who Made This Vest?

An SSD reader sent us this photo of the cover of ‘Military Technology’ wanting to know who made the black vest.  We don’t know but perhaps you do.

  1. Fredrik B says:

It looks like a swedish vest made by snigel design

  2. RoyFocker301 says:

It’s probably Snigel Design plate carrier Strap on DF-13

  3. Bud says:

It’s a sweedish brand called snigel design. The reference is strap-on 13.

  4. Matt says:

They look like Swedes, then design comes from SnigelDesign most probably.

  5. Bootcat says:

Snigel Design Plate Carrier, as Matt said. Current issue for some French SF too.

    • SSD says:

Thanks guys, I had forgotten all about Snigel. I remember they used to make the subgun pack.

  6. Fredrik B says:

    They have more great stuff

  7. Textanker says:

    You guys are mega gear-nerds.

  8. Mick says:

While we’re asking about military gear in random media, what kind of assault pack is that chick wearing in that toyota ad where dad drops her off at the airport and she goes off with teh marines?

    • badjujuu says:

The actual ad or the SNL spoof?

    • Bushman says:

      It’s cheap 3-Day pack by Condor http://www.condoroutdoor.com/condor-125.aspx

      • Oneoops31 says:

There is an actual commercial also where the girl walks in with two guys in uniform in front of her I think its an Army Recruiting commercial.

        • Airborne_fister says:

Negative. They are marines. And it’s a cheap knockoff of the old bmf camelback bags. The old camelback bags had that lower pocket for the use of toiletries. And shower shoes. But they did away with that bag and now condor makes it. The camelback version is super nice. Never tried the cheaper condor version. But looks good if you need a quick 3 day pack without a bladder.

  9. james says:

The pack in the toyota commercial looks like a chinese knockoff of the older camelbak BFM.

    • SSD says:

Agreed. Camelback hasn’t built that version in quite awhile. But what does it matter the version of the pack?

  10. Bill says:

Has anyone done business with Snigel from the States? Some of their LE stuff looks like the answer to some issues I’ve been having.

  11. Fredrik B says:

I do not think there will be any problems Snigel design is a solid company just logg on to there web shop or email they will help you.

  12. Peter says:

Snigel does not have a webshop and don´t normaly sell to private persons. Coldskills.com (Swedish webshop) sell some Snigel stuff, mostly military variants, have an homepage in english set-up for forreign customers.
Armygear.com (Norwegian webshop) has some of Snigels LE gear but their homepage is only in Norwegian. Joakim however who runs the business can maybe help you out.

  13. Garrett says:

What optic is that? I’m assuming it’s got a range finder on it. Is it thermal too?

  14. Tomas says:

Hi, we do indeed have a webshop and we do sell to private persons.
However some products are what we call “Restricted” and only sold to LE and military personel. For registration please go to:
    https://snigeldesign.nordicshops.com
There you can register a profile, if you are LE or Military contact tomas@snigeldesign.com for a profile update after registration.
Please follow us on Facebook as well.
    Best regards
    Snigeldesign AB

  15. Erik says:

It is indeed Swedish soldiers. And the optic is the same as on the swedish tow (robot 57)

  16. Erik says:

In addition, the vest is the same as the swedes use. “stridsväst 12”. Dno the international reference

    • Henrik says:

You sure about this? AFAIK the Stridsväst 12 is more of a LBT style chestrig (splitt in the middle of chest with zipper) and the Kroppsskydd 12 is mor of a CIRAS style vest.

  17. Tommy O says:

I think thats an aimpoint sight. And if anyone want to buy snigle desigen gear. You can buy it from http://www.faltbutiken.se. I don’t know if they deliver to US but you can try. Snigle desigen deliver vest and gear to the mainpart of the swedish armed forces. Good shit!!!

  18. David says:

snigeldesign does indeed have their own webshop.
