Having left my iphone on the porch I have a feeling this might over heat a device if you left it in direct sunlight.

I you follow the link they provided, you can help fund the project. (It’s corwdfunding on Indiegogo, and it has raised about 40% of it’s goal last time i checked, with about a month to go.) Basically you would be giving them about $78 so they can fund this a make a production run. That way you’d be saving about 50% of the MSRP for when it launches for the general public.
Backed it on kickstarter – but the project did not get funded all the way. Hopefully it will this time, I would really enjoy this.
