Made of food and water grade materials, the SpaTap is capable of functioning as a hand wash, a shower, and a tap. It can serve as a hygiene and first aid device, and assists with water conservation. I’m not sure who they think will pony up $25 each (and must buy wholesale bulk) for 45¢ of injection molded soft plastic, a 5¢ cord lock, and 3¢ of string.

    • mark says:

Cost of injection mold tooling is a pretty serious upfront cost. I’m working on parts that are less complex than this and they’re all in the $20-$30k range for tooling.

Assuming a $25K tooling startup, they would have to sell 1,000 @ $25 each just to break even.

And then there’s the other costs.

I’m sure this will come with a warning label not to stick it in anyone’s anywhere.

I’d pay $25 just to fondle that vaguely suggestive-looking knob on the bottom.

      • Bloke_from_ohio says:

Wait, are you telling me that producing stuff costs more than the price of the individual components and or raw unprocessed materials that make them up? $25 is actually pretty reasonable if you have a bona-fide use for this thing. How much do those dedicated camp shower bag things cost?

        • Jon, OPT says:

This is absolutely untrue, along with the myth of postage, wages, marketing, testing, and rent costing money.
