And then he tweeted this…

  1. Gerard says:

Ironic to hear Obama talking about lies. I’m surprised he didn’t drag out his Obamacare line and say ‘if you like your Constitution you can keep your Constitution’

  2. Dan says:

    *illegally, of course.

  3. Mike Nomad says:

What a sad, tiny little man. Dude, you reek of desperation. Really.

    • Miclo18d says:

I think the term you’re going for is:

      “Desperation is a stinky cologne.”

  4. Riceball says:

Really? I’d like to know what kind of gun can be bought online without a background check by anybody, violent felon or not. To the best of my knowledge, the only guns that you buy online without a background check are black powder guns and possibly C&Rs and those only can ship to your doorstep if you have a Class 03 license.

    • Mike Nomad says:

Technically, he’s right, but only by the narrowest of margins…He’s simply conflating a communication method (Internet) with a face-to-face sale.

      • Mike Nomad says:

Sorry, dodgy wording; He = Current POTUS.

      • SSD says:

        Amazon? That’s buying something online.

      • james says:

No different than taking an ad out in the classifieds 20 years ago. They are still F2F transactions,

        • SSD says:

But that’s buying face to face, not over the Internet.

          • james says:

I know, but that is exactly what he is talking about, exactly what all the “exposès” from Vice and others have covered. He’s talking about limiting speech there as much as 2A .

    • DSM says:

There are rifles, pre1890 or some other arbitrary date is the cut off if I remember can be purchased and shipped direct to you. Not a whole lot of mass shootings with a Krag though.

  5. Jeff S says:

Short of the Silk Road or whatever the replacement is, I’m unaware of any website that will send a Glock 74 with heat shield directly to my house sans background check or anything else.

    I’m confused.

    • Patrick says:

I myself keep getting burned by my 5.45×39 Glock, if you know where I could just get that heat shield….

  6. I couldn’t believe my ears when he said that, and then segued into talking about background checks and stopping mass shootings.

    What the actual fuck?

  7. Josh says:

You can call it a “slippery slope.” That any impediment on gun ownership tramples our fundamental right to bare arms. I’m a gun owner myself. Of every type. In the most restrictive of states. I’m a veteran of foreign wars and still currently serving as a reservist. Though many could argue that being a reservist isn’t really saying much. To that, I say touche’. My point is, it’s about time. I wait 10 days between purchase of firearm and ownership. If a background check extends for that entire duration, why should I care? I’m not a criminal, I have no mental health issues. I know as citizen of this country the 30 second phone call background check currently isn’t enough. We’re losing this fight. I love my country and have always been willing to lay down my life for it. A fundamental belief that most will never understand. I can not sit idle here and believe that what laws we have in place are currently ‘working.’ Whether it be true or not, 200,00 firearms were purchased in the United States on Black Friday. 200,000. Did we just stand up another Marine Corps? The government isn’t coming for your guns folks. I cannot in good conscience believe that everyone SHOULD own a firearm. That laws should restrict their ownership. Accept that truth and the sting of a longer background check won’t hurt as much, I assure you. Semper Fidelis.

    • james says:

      Nice canned response,dude.
How many versions did they give you?

      • K says:

Wow, I was expecting for him to breakout the old “You have nothing to fear if you have nothing to hide” line.

    • My Lying Eyes says:

I was not aware we had a fundamental right to short sleeve shirts. Thanks for sharing your wall of text. I would love to know how you are a gun owner of every type while living in the most restrictive of states. There are a lot of types. I also enjoyed your straw man argument that everyone in fact should not own a gun. I have heard a lot of arguments from everyone on the pro gun rights side that we should be arming terrorists serving time at ADX Florence so I am glad you the responsible gun owner have finally shot that one down. Enjoy your quinoa salad tonight.

      • JB says:

Bro, that comment wasn’t even from a real person. It was straight up copy/paste spam. No one actually talks or writes like that.

        • Jian Hong says:

I hope not, as a veteran of foreign wars myself I find it hard to believe that any veteran can type shit like this. And I thought it was great that Americans bought enough guns to equip the Marine Corps plus more during this past black Friday.

    • Jacques Straup says:

There you have it, folks: lawmaking off-the-hip, emotion-based and nearly devoid of facts but guaran-f’ing-teed to allow an elite liberal-progressive uberclass to get one step closer to making every single decision of your gov-mandated 65 yr proletarian existence. Josh, if you can inject some form of government handout into this plan of yours, you have indeed demonstrated a mastery US Democratic Party strategy as described in chapter one of their Little Red Book written by the very best Ivy League propagandists and pamphleteers money can buy. My guess is that you want womyn+LGBTQ in your Marine infantry battalions as well, let’s say one per squad because it looks good on paper and some clown will invent a man-portable womyn shower/shitter unit to further enable this ratio and “enhance” field training and sustainment. All jokes aside, I think you’re wrong on this one Josh (well, one more since you’re a devil dog: your right to “bare arms” comes with a new codicil that states that “despite being a Marine and 240 years of constricted-bicep tradition, ye are forbidden to wear T-shirts one or more sizes too small and all Youth sizes are specifically and forthwith banned”). Obama is flashy but ineffectual when it comes to hard decisions and actions that will actually accomplish something substantive. His trite displays of emotion regarding various tragedies should not cloud the fact that he has accomplished very little beyond some poorly-crafted and dubious policy that will succeed only in gumming up the legislative branch for years. The question no one likes to discuss is whether the Federal government was ever designed or intended to get this deep in the weeds. I for one would like to see the Governors step in and start reclaiming some ground, why seemingly half of the country puts so much faith in the deeply flawed and ineffective federal government is perplexing though perhaps we will get to the point where even democrats can admit that the federal government really, and no offense to all the cubicle-ensconced GS’s marking time to retirement here, is simply not that good at most of the things it is trying to accomplish.

    • Dellis says:

The crack is strong on this one!

If I am correct, “YOU” don’t mind waiting, say 30 days, for your gun because of an extended background check, right?

      Some problems here,

      1) How many “criminals” buy a gun legally?
      2) Who’s to say the guy who waits 30 days has not planned to use it in a crime on the 31st day?
      3) Just what is an “extended background check” that’s done in 30 days which can’t be done in 15 minutes?

In other words, are you really willing to have the feds crawl up your arse with a stethoscope and scrutinize every single facet of your private life? All of your on-line forum postings, video rentals…certain visits to, oh I dunno, “Shavedsheep.com”? (Never been there myself)

You sir are a wart on the penis of society and have no clue what the hell you’re typing about.

    • Erik says:

      Josh,

It’s fairly obvious you are in California; it sounds all too familiar as I have been stationed here as well for about 9 years. If I am right, then you have NOT bought any sort of normal firearm here: almost everything is some watered down bullshit version.

10rd mags, bullet buttons, the “Roster of Approved Handguns”( which, coincidently went from 1300 in 2014 to about 650 in 2016). You have also apparently never had the CADOJ fuck up your DROS, and make your. “10 Day” wait become 30, with no explanation given, regardless of you having purchased firearms before.

California has some of the most restrictive gun laws in the US, with a system that may well become a model under Obamas strategy. However all of this red tape and bullshit I have to go through to buy a neutered AR doesn’t mean shit; look at how well it stopped the San Bernardino shooters. Background checks were performed, 10 days were waited; doesn’t mean shit when it’s an already fucking illegal straw purchase.

Also, go punch yourself in the dick and learn to use paragraph breaks.

      • Joe says:

        Josh,

What Platoon, Company, Regiment, Division are you/were you with in my beloved Corps? Belleau Wood, Argonne, Guadalcanal, Tarawa, Iwo Jima, Chosin, Pusan, Seoul, Da’Nang, Hue, Khe Sahn, Torar Bora, Baghdad, Ramadi, Fallujah, Marjah, and Sangin vets didn’t blend out so you could wait 30 day to collect what you have a right to own. Cherish your hard won freedoms ,don’t squander, belittle, or trade them away. The enemy lurks in the shadows to destroy what this Republic was built on. Let’s not do their work for them.

        – Semper Fidelis
From an an actual Marine Vet
        1/5 Bravo Co. 3rd Plt.

      • eric says:

Your exactly right….The other thing this dude doesn’t realize is the 10-day background check we have to go through is the same as the other states
“5 second check” as he called it. It isn’t more thorough its the same fucking thing.

We have to wait 10 days for a “cool down period”. So if decide you need a gun to kill someone with you can’t just go buy one, you have to wait, and maybe during that time you will change your mind…..seriously you can’t make this shit up.

    • Mandingo says:

We’re not allowed to say slope anymore.

  8. Well then why are we worried about guns? Based on this talking point its clear that the internet is what we should be shutting down!11

I shake my head that Trump the entertainer is the “best response” that anyone could come up with for a “fix”. Fn’a.

    • Airborne_fister says:

What is gonna happen to the guns on your site. Oh wait. Nvm you can’t sell a gun over the Internet. Well you can but it cannot be bought and shipped to your house. I’m sorry my bad. Your site is the bees knees. If only I could finally get someone to buy my NVGS. Do I have to do a background check on those? What about uppers?

  9. DSM says:

Wasn’t this already covered in the Gun Control Act of ’68?

  10. JE62 says:

Its amazing how a one track mind works! Anything can be purchased over the dark web, which is where most of the “felons” get their guns! If the right amount of money is spent, anything can be purchased.

  11. BillC says:

It’s technically true. The felon can buy it. But he can’t take possession of it.

  12. Airborne_fister says:

Well in better news Indiana is trying to pass a law where any citizen who is legally allowed to carry can. An no “gun free zones” i.e. Places that post a sign. Even tho the sign is unconstitutional. But they can charge you with trespassing. If you stick around after they say you cannot carry here. I believe it’s called constitutional carry?

    • AlexC says:

Private property is an absolute right. If you are on my property, and I ask you to leave, it does not matter for what reason I ask you to leave, you have to. If you don’t, it’s trespassing.

That also applies if you ask me to leave and I’m on your property. Castle Law works in both directions.

      • Ed says:

Unless, of course, you ask me to leave your lunch counter or my front seat on the bus because you do not like my skin color.

  13. Jian Hong says:

The liar-in-chief makes up a lie with this statement yet has the audacity to accuse others of “lies”? Only morons still believe in the shit this disgrace of a human being spews

  14. Dellis says:

Ya know what really ticks me off about this President and his ramblings here? Yes these executive actions are pathetic BUT what really gets me irked to where I want to kick my neighbors cat…this guys buys his own fricken BS!

He looks down on all others as if we are not on the same intellectual level as he is. I totally believe he is this way to even those in his own party. He is a major narcissist because as he is wiping away tears not there yet, he looks for the camera (OK, cue eye wipe, camera 3 where are you?). He has to be thinkin, “This is going to go down so well on The View!”

So his attitude is what tweaks my nerves. He might be a cool “guy” minus the political “community organizer messiah” crap but….I doubt it.

    • matty says:

You ever notice how he never gives a shit about the shootings that happen daily in Chi town? Where were the tears and the “she could have been my daughter” for the UNT girl that just got drive by killed? Fuck this guy for real.

      • Henrik says:

Chicago is the holy socialist Mecka of the US. It would be heresy to say that Chicago is anything but perfect

        • Dellis says:

Please, remember that white people saying “Chicago” is deemed as hate speech.

          Thank You

  15. Matt says:

This POS POTUS should be jerked up out of his comfy golf cart, frog marched to the nearest tree, and hung immediately.

He has went off the flipping rails people. This is the man that has his finger on the trigger of the biggest gun ever, the US Nuclear Launch System. Doesn’t that just make you feel all warm and fuzzy?

  16. James says:

What is truly sad… they drag in all of the families of victims and parade them to the media… even cry, just a little because he is MAD! NOT ONE of the events classified as ‘MASS SHOOTINGS’ would have be stopped by these executive measures to curb gun violence. Even sadder is the fact that Chicago which Mr. O claims as his home, has some of the strictest gun laws in the country and also some of the highest gun fatality stats… They continue to say they are closing loop holes when they have failed to the vary same thing with corporate tax evasion…

    Mr. O = WORST EVER

    IMO

  17. Reeky says:

maybe hes talking about websites like armslist?

    • Desert Lizard says:

There are many online forums where people can coordinate purchases. The reason Oblama’s statement is a fallacy is that the internet cannot actually transfer the firearm to the felon; there are two methods for the transfer: through the mail, which has been illegal for half of a century, and in person, which is where the argument is about.

  18. Stefan S. says:

This guy makes me ashamed to be an American.

  19. Big Daddy says:

After reading this I think I’ll go online and buy a gun. Oh wait I already did and everyone had to go through a FFL.

If he is talking about advertising for a FTF…….well that is 1A rights. Like that rat fuck Bloomberg trying to tell us what size drink we can buy in New York. I’m glad I moved to Texas to be free.

Eliminating guns because of gun violence is like eliminating fornication because of rape. Neither make sense and both are against the human law of personal freedom. It wasn’t given to us by the Constitution it was acknowledged and they made that clear.

    • Sue Panetta says:

I already did too and DIDN’T require a background check. And it was shipped to my door legally by the private seller I bought it from, who lives in the same state – no FFL involvement. Even delivered by my mailman! If Texas is truly free you should have the same right, so get informed and exercise your right. There’s the possibility that you can do it for a long gun but not a hand gun, varies by state, butthe ATF says it’s fine. Gun rights – use ’em or losr ’em!

    • L.Washing says:

well the soda thing was alright…look at the people in the streets…

      • Big Daddy says:

@LWashing who are you to judge?

It starts with soda now guns and ends with enslavement.

  20. Sue Panetta says:

Folks should be more informed about their gun rights. It’s perfectly legal in most states to go to Armslist.com, find an in-state private seller, purchase, for example an AR-15 or some other modern weapon, pay them through PayPay or some other online means, and arrange to have them ship it to your door. The post office will even ship if a long gun. No background check and no licensed dealer involvement required. This is all perfectly legal from ATF/federal perspective, depends on your state/local laws if ok for you.

    • Big Daddy says:

And if something goes wrong with the shipment try and get your money back or a replacement. That is the dumbest thing I ever heard. Paypal will not do it, you violated their rules. You’re right but wrong, you are right about long guns in Texas by the US Mail but the only person who would risk it is either a person who should not have it or someone who never had any issues with delivers from the Big 3, USPS. UPS. FedEx.

Just because some thing can be done doesn’t mean it’s a good thing to do.

I do not buy or sell guns unless it’s through a FFL or I personally know the seller/buyer. I can say that about most items too.
