thumbnail

Tactical Outfitters has began accepting pre-orders for what they claim will be the world’s largest morale patch, supported by an application to Guiness World records. A 1:1 sized replica of the Swedish AT4 anti-tank launcher, this patch will be 40″ long by 6.22″ wide, and fully Velcro backed. This will be a limited-time offer, and purchasers will also receive a numbered art card with every pre-order customer’s name on it. Additionally, a portion of the proceeds from the sale of the AT4 Morale Patch will be donated to Wishes For Warriors.

This is so dumb.. but so cool at the same time. I think I may need to order one.. or two.

  2. BillC says:

In the link for the product description and the picture, it states the AT4 is a “rocket launcher”. It isn’t, the AT4 is a smoothbore, recoilless weapon that launches an anti-tank/armor projectile, no rockets involved.

    • Jon Demler says:

      Nope. It’s a rocket.

      • DM says:

        Gentlemen,
Let’s all calm down and agree, it’s a bazooka!

      • SSD says:

        It’s a rocket.

        • BillC says:

Okay, show me where the rocket motor is then.

          • The word rocket is used in the initial description of the AT4 in the link provided:

The launcher and cartridge, 84-mm, M136 (AT4), HEAT, is a lightweight, self-contained antiarmor weapon. It consists of a free-flight, fin-stabilized cartridge packed in an expendable launcher. It is issued as a round of ammunition and requires minimum operator maintenance. The launcher (fig. 14-25) serves as a watertight packing container for transportation and storage; however, when the launcher is placed in the firing position, it serves to ignite and guide the rocket on its initial flight toward the target. Once fired, the launcher is designed to be discarded.

First, that patch is pretty cool. I fully intend on getting one.

Second, I know that the AT4 is referenced everywhere as a rocket, including FM 23-25. It’s just got no motor, fuel, or a venturi. After the propellent in the launcher does it is thing, its completely inertia and unpowered. On Saab’s website, it doesn’t mention the word rocket. The AT4 is essentially a disposable, one-shot, Carl G which is a reloadable recoilless rifle, without the rifling.

Oh gosh with the typical internetz here. Just because you can or can’t find what you want on the internet doesn’t mean it isn’t true. I don’t know if NASA would classify this shit as a rocket or what, but here, standing up and testifying to my faith in the Church of Badassery I do proclaim that the M-136 AT4, M-141 BDM / SMAW-D, and all the different LAWs. They be rockets. Can I get a witness!?

  3. Ian says:

Your scientists were so preoccupied with whether or not they could, they didn’t stop to think if they should

  4. SVGC says:

Not a patch fan, and have never bought one until now. This is cool as shit. Make a LAW or M79 and I’ll buy more.

  5. James says:

Perfect for the ceiling of a truck.

  6. Stefan S. says:

Too may comments by individuals that really need an outside hobby!
