Artist Lorin Michki Creates Tribute to James Yeager

Earlier this year we lost James Yeager to ALS. Artist Lorin Michki has created a great tribute to his life.

He had this to say, “I was commissioned to make this by a friend of James Yeager. I was actually wanting to do one anyway but I didn’t really want to do it unless the family was okay with it. They will be getting this drawing.”

Lorin is selling prints of this drawing in his Etsy store with half of each print sold donated to a charity of the Yeager family’s choosing.

    Yeager would like this

This was that super controversial guy, the same yeager?

    • Seamus says:

James built a solid training company that teaches serious skills to civilians and did it decades before so many others came along. I think he was only “controversial” to the Fudds whose personal identity is wrapped up into what gun they carry. He was an equal opportunity slayer of sacred cows. The 2A world lost a real champion when he passed from ALS.

My wife and I did attend his 2-Day Fighting Rifle course and I have to say, in my 20 years in the Army, it was likely the most effective 2-days of firearms training I had ever received. Unfortunately I never got to personally meet James but he instructors were fantastic, professional and extremely knowledgeable. If you are to judge someone but what they have built or how others who know them speak about then when they aren’t around, then I would say he was a stand up dude who didn’t suffer fools.

I wish I would have had the opportunity to train with him and anyone who supports the gun culture knows that we lost a lion.

No, decent people of the gun industry are ashamed of him – visit any convention and wait for the exhibitors after our party: There you can listen to people distancing themself, making jokes or actually criticizing what he did and how he hurt the reputation of regular non extremists that work in this industry

        • SSD says:

And loads of decent people in the gun industry actually knew Yeager and didn’t talk about him behind his back.

extremism in defense of the US Constitution is a virtue, cowardice is a sin.

The only people that don’t like James are the ones that never met him. Would certainly never say anything to his face. His training speaks for itself. Over 50 self defense uses with a gun. Zero losses.

    • Mohican says:

Yes, Rob, he was that super controversial guy, for more than one reason. But it’s not the time to talk about that.

      • NoFan says:

        Why not?
Should we be tolerant about Maos, Stalins, Hitler and ohters criminal activities and praise their good side, because its Christmas? Hitler was lovely to kids – lets draw him a tribute painting?! Yaeger’s fans are nothing but that: Blind fans. This guy was more than “controversial”, and after his public freakout, acting like a spoiled child, asking for shooting stand offs, all hope was gone. He didnt contribute any more knowledge to the industry than available threw others HE RELIED ON – he just created a successful business out of it. Leaving the names of true giants of the industry unheard off by the wide public. At the end of the day, he did more damage to the public opinion about gun owners than he did good. And even worse: He wasnt even able to have savings or pay for a medical care, so he needed some GoFundMe page BEGGING that we pay for his treatment. I wonder what he wasted all his money for?

        • SSD says:

You may not have liked the guy, but it’s obvious you never actually spoke with him. He was much like a pro wrestler you see on TV. You only saw his stage persona.

I’m curious what criminal activity Yeager committed that has you comparing him to Hitler and Mao.

I dont need to meet him, when I can see online all of his wrong doings:

“Because a guy who worked a 3rd rate police department in a 3rd rate state went on to be a 3rd Rate “Contractor” where he admittedly fucked up. He then comes back home, starts a shooting school, get a little popularity from some of his Admittedly decent shooting training videos , my guess is a manager or someone got to him and told him to make it “MORE XTREME” He shaves his balding head, starts taking testosterone (cough steroids cough) goes on some Reality TV show, and starts getting cocky. He gets SO Cocky that his former Security company sues him, forcing him to stfu about his former contractor and about “The incident”. Then he wrongly thinks Obama is banning guns and threatens to start shooting people The State of Tennessee gets wind, suspends his Carry License, and exposes that he claims to have certification from them that he actually doesn’t (his big thing is that he claims his opinion matters more because he’s taken more training classes than “You”. Which is kinda funny to see him on his forum or the youtube page arguing with Combat vets) Then theres just some “shitty” things he’s done that make me just not like him -He turned off his youtube comments for awhile, because he got busted making stupid remarks (calling people gay, retarded ect) -He then turned ON his comments and said he unblocked everyone, then he just started blocking people (I corrected him on some fact, nicely, and he banned me lol) -He’s challenged people to “Duels” over the internet, and when people stepped up, he pulled the video (but you can still see the Release Form on the internet)

He’s a former Cop who used to be fat, got into decent shape and is suffering from some complex where he has to PROVE himself to you, or his dad, or whatever. He’s also gone on and on about how high is IQ is and how big his dick is.

Half his videos are decent Heres a decent bug out bag Heres why I think Glock Mods arent worth it 1911s suck *its true, they do

The other half are rambling rants about how great he is.

I’d rather get the same lesson from a dude with half the attitude”

Gee mister, that dead guy sure takes up a lot of space in your head. You ought to get a hobby or something.

              • NoFan says:

And you too seem to miss the quotation marks! This is anothers users opinion – one of many negative opinions about James, because guess what: People who praise this guy are fans and blind to his antidemocratic behaviour!

            • Brent says:

              You are retarded and gay.

              • NoFan says:

You are too stupid to see that this is a quote by another user – and you are some homophobic idiot that proofs again how great the gun community is … using gay as insult … wow… 1980 called, they want your chauvinism back.

        • ThadDowell says:

Maybe a bit over the top comparison. All you people that run your mouth about my friend James I’m sure have never met the guy I know James well and he wouldn’t even care for me taking up for him but I knew James well in my 48 years I have never seen anyone preform as many acts of kindness as I had personally whiteness James preform. He personally helped me with things that no one else did nothing that he had to or needed to but he did. James spoke his mind and it offended people so the feel like they should attack him even after his death doesn’t say anything about him just all of you. I personally have seen many very respectable members of the training community tell James how much they respected him. I have trained with James in other company’s classes and he was a true student but I have never taken any class better than Tactical Response Fighting Pistol in that type of class and there are many great class of that sort. It’s something else to spout off behind keyboards but I bet most of you wouldn’t face to face I’m not hard to find and I’ll discuss anything in person

  3. Gerard says:

I watched his videos for years and planned to train with him. He was respected by professionals in the industry such as John Farnam

  4. thebronze says:

    NoFan is a turd.

James Yeager has done more for the gun community and self defense community than NoFan ever will.
