MDM 24 – Brunton Announces Lensatic Compass

Brunton has been making compasses since 1894 but they’ve never offered a mil-spec, tritium-filled compass, until now.

Coming in 2025, their new Lensatic Compass features a needle which settles 30% faster than the current compass and a durable bezel which will continue to click throughout the life of the compass.

Although their pouch is similar to the current issue model, which is based on an M-1956 design, carried on through ALICE, this new version is PALS compatible.

On a final note, although it has been in Montana for over half a century, Brunton was owned by various Scandinavian businesses for many years. About two years ago, Brunton became a woman-owned, geologist-owned, family small business.

Woman owned? So what? Does it make a difference? The product is either good or bad.

Is she white? Not muslim? Not so woke-friendly then. She still has a long way to go.

I rather buy a more political-correct compass XD

Somehow you missed the geologist owned and family owned small business? The fact that she’s a woman triggered you?

“Any business that mentions something that is unlike me or mentions something that isn’t ‘back in my day’ is bad, unacceptable and the downfall of America.” – Some commenters here at times

That being said, this person might have been joking or being sarcastic? (last sentence)

Going after government contract. Being female, minority, veteran, or disabled owned matters for set asides.

Yes, it does make a HUGE difference for a business trying to sell stuff to the US government. Women and minority owned small businesses get preferential treatment when it comes time to accept contract bids. I’d much rather a small business get the contract than some mega-global corporation.

Nice, I’ve always been able to rely Bruton, I like this. Familiarity and reliability and bit of nostalgia in a solid package. An old friend of mine was a Surveyor and Geologist, they know their orienteering!

Does it come in mils? Can’t see it on their website yet…
