This makes me feel microaggressed!
I was not offended and that pisses me off
Iam offended that you were not offended…
Despite Mr. Hitchens (in his youth) being a self-described Trotskyite, I admired the fact that he was willing to go against popular opinion on Iraq, because he felt that we did have a reason to invade. His Letters to a Young Contrarian also struck a chord. I suppose I shouldn’t have liked the guy for a lot of reasons, but I did – and this quote is just one more reason. BZ
Thats a great line
There is no god.
The 1911 is overrated.
Clinton is shit, so is Trump. Where’s american exceptionalism when these are the two best each side had to offer?
There are only two biological genders, but people can be different from the stereotypes and still be a man/woman.
Iraq was a mistake.
Kate Upton is hot but overrated.
Offended yet?
This will be even more hilarious of admins are offended and delete this comment.
Jack Daniels is an overrated mediocre beverage.
Agreed. And I have a terrible name.
Agree on all points; except the first.
But, i’m an adult and can listen to your point of view without being offended.
Ironically, the first is the only one that is factual, rather than a matter of opinion.
I agree about Kate Upton.
Technically there are three genders. For paperwork reasons. Male, female, unknown. When you get a name John you know male. But when you get the name Megan you know female. But then there is the name of teagan then that is up for debate. And I’m only talking from a paperwork stand point. In real life yes only two genders.
Hitch was intellectually rigorous and stayed true to his understanding of the world until his too early end, so I give him points for that.
People get too damn offended way too easily.
We are each no more than a very transient flea-speck on a small blue planet in one tiny corner of one galaxy and need to learn to get a grip.
…. on the other hand…. Kate Upton….
It was amazing to watch her fly about in micro gravity in a bikini!
I found a great deal to disagree with in Mr. Hitchens but he wielded the language like a sword. I certainly agree with how he cuts with it here…
I agreed with a lot of what he said, and yes, he certainly was a master of language. Listening to him speak you begin to realize he operated at an entirely different level than most people. His ability with language in the realm of debate and discussion is simply outstanding.
I don’t happen to agree with all of Hitchens’ conclusions but he was also one to poke and prod his collectivist confreres like Alexander Cockburn did.
Like most of the left and right today, they ask the right questions and mostly veer into the wrong conclusions.
Free speech is impossible unless offensive and hate speech are protected too.

Some of your advertisers should take this advise.
I see that this was lost on you.
Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron’s cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience. They may be more likely to go to Heaven yet at the same time likelier to make a Hell of earth. This very kindness stings with intolerable insult. To be “cured” against one’s will and cured of states which we may not regard as disease is to be put on a level of those who have not yet reached the age of reason or those who never will; to be classed with infants, imbeciles, and domestic animals. _C.S. Lewis
Cue a bunch of dumbass comments by a bunch of straight white men about how they don’t see what the big deal is, never saw that coming
