Breaking: US Army Tests Combat Chair

  1. Jon Demler says:

Well obviously this soldier’s sector of fire didn’t allow her to go prone and still be effective. When her team leader set her in she was provided the chair to see above the vegetation. Great leadership!

    • Jon Demler says:

The best part is that they’re actually in C Co., so the team leader managed to “acquire” this chair from those lazy bastards in Alpha.

  2. MED says:

Does the chair come in ranger green?
Also, to keep with SSD-reader-posting tradition, “it’s too expensive.”

    • Joe says:

Chair is already “Desert Sand”, works in all environments, no Ranger Green needed.

  3. Non-operator says:

The chair manufacturer was awarded a $250 million 10-year contract, and experienced 500% increase in profits, while the soldier tasked with sitting in them never actually got a production model and instead was still on a boot-camp issued campstool through his entire enlistment.

    • Maroon Beret says:

Once again the jokes on the Army because the Air Force model has a heated, tufted pad in fuschia with a built in massage mechanism. And unlike the Army, USAF personnel receive hazardous duty pay whenever they are required to sit in the chair, and are prohibited from sitting in the chair for more than two hours at a time without a neck rub, and fuzzy slippers.

  4. Maroon Beret says:

Clearly what is happening in this picture is an influence operation designed to create an impression on our adversaries that some units in the U.S. Army are lazy, tactically inept, poorly trained, undisciplined, and unsupervised. Thankfully we know otherwise and, based on the reactions to this picture, it is having the intended impact. A strategic success, and a prime example of how effective well planned deception operations can be especially when supported by superb acting like that demonstrated by the actor playing a soldier in this picture. Separately, are those chairs available with arm rests and an umbrella? If so, please send the NSN.

    • SGT Heintz says:

Yeah, but no one can touch the well planned deception operations used on our own people, AT THE RECRUITERS!!!

  5. TKS says:

She is shooting the test 12.7 pound 7.62 interim battle rifle. What you can’t see is the swing up rifle support arm.

    • Maroon Beret says:

It’s the Army’s variant of the Marine “sitting firing position” which follows the Army’s “reclining couch firing position.”

  6. Hubb says:

Who’s the Chair Force now m#&$*%a!!!

  7. MLT says:

Why I felt that is a April Joke ??

  8. Iggy says:

Matches perfectly with my combat umbrella stand and hat rack.

  9. Jbar says:

Funny until the hair bun was noticed. Now….

  10. P.J. says:

Now we know how they plan to stabilize the Interim Combat Service Rifle during automatic fire.

  11. Asinine Name says:

Dare I ask if she’s got a Combat Arse?

  12. Pogue says:

    Pffftt .. needs rails.

  13. JBar says:

Where’s Obama’s umbrella Marine when you need him…

  14. JM Gavin says:

Okay, I’m confused. I see a chair in the photo, and a carbine w/ BFA floating in the air over it, but I don’t see anything else but vegetation.

  15. Whit says:

    He’s a Chairborne Ranger!

  16. Steve Day says:

    Where’s the combat wheelchair?

It’s not that weird Darpa headless dog thing is it?

  17. IheartPTbelts says:

I’m betting a profile that prevents standing beyond a specified amount of time. I’m starting to look forward to retiring.
