Patagonia x MIIR – Quantumiir Pot

Coming late this summer is a collaboration between Patagonia and MIIR. The Quantumiir Pot was developed at the request of Patagonia.

Incorporating a heat exchanger it heats quickly, requiring less fuel. Made from Stainless Steel for increased durability over traditional Aluminum pots, it incorporates measurement markings. The handles stow along the body.

Patagonia is also introducing a Wood Burning Stove which can burn wood scavenged on the trail. It breaks down into three components which store in the Quantumiir Pot.

Potentially very cool. Not sure I want to stow my wood stove inside my food pot, though.

Toaks and lots of others have been doing this for a while. I’m curious what the capacity of the pot is, if it’s bigger than 700ml.

Lots of ways to skin that cat, a piece of titanium stovepipe makes a workable stove that fits in a food pot… Weighs less than 2 oz….

Thru-hikers have been using wood backpacking heaters for a long time. I find it funny that so many ecofriendly and antiwar hikers have for decades been so for LNT and environmentalism, but also big purchasers of natural gas and petro based stoves.

Despite not being LNT friendly, wood fuel is ecofriendly and does not rely on foreign petro to cook a meal. Burnable fuel can even found in almost every environment even if it is twigs, and animal dung.

Patagonia being a jacket company is obviously way behind to release this, but its seems like a cool twist of a tried and true concept.

Some notable observations are Reactor and Jetboil style HE fins but this one appears to be copper. Superior to Ti and Al fins of competitors.

That does not look like a very lightweight system, but does have the appearance of quality (at what cost?).
