COLES: Sarge!
SERGEANT MAJOR: Yes?!
COLES: I’ve got a book I’d quite like to read.
SERGEANT MAJOR: Right! You go read your book, then! Now! Everybody else… quite content to join in… with my little scheme of marching up and down the square?!
WYCLIF: Sarge?

One of the classic skits. Monty Python used this skit in several shows and in “The Meaning of Life”.
I would think of this bit every time I was marching troops around.

part of me wishes the british army was still like this…at least the colour sergeant intimidates me here! i can’t think of one i couldn’t knock out these days!
