Paraclete’s Aspis is a lightweight personal defense shield that offers Level IIIA+ protection. Available with or without a viewport, the Aspis is a 100% boltless system (note that the above shield is a prototype) with dual side weapon deployment shelves and a V-shape that adds strength, mitigates ricochets, and diverts away from the shield center. The interior of the shield features a stationary handle, foam pad, and Velcro forearm strap system which allows for improved manipulation of the shield. Paraclete also offers training on how to utilize and properly manipulate the Aspis.
I think I saw Steve Rogers heft one of those, trying it out, before he settled on the round one with the white star and red and white stripes.
What’s next? Ballistic Plate Armor for you and your horse?
I’m sure Italy will work on that for their scouts. 😛
Preporatory command: “Legion! Form turtle!” Command of execution: “Move!”
Sounds cooler when you call it TESTUDO.
Which this shield isn’t shaped for.
Weirdly retro but would be interesting to see footage of a good guy using one of these in a modern gunfight. Is there a Law of War/Use of Force prohibition against crushing skulls with that drop point?
Russians have been using shield for years.
Here is a video of a regional FSB team in Ingushetia employing a shield: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WAHVABa3XfM
A better couple, same unit:

Is that SURPAT?
Yes, it’s an SRVV “Alpha” vest in SURPAT on the instructor.
Pure Awesome
I could see peaceful protesters in destabilized or super oppressive countries making good use of stuff like this. Todays protesters Thailand and Turkey immediately spring to mind..
Looks great for home defense. I’m in.
