Yes I am, as well as one of those much-maligned right-wing former military guys and an evil, corrupt police officer. Mainstream me via hates guys like us. But we love God, our Republic and Freedom.

  2. Uncle Dan says:

    That would be media…:)

  3. Tom Lima says:

John F. Kennedy was a life member as well. Was armed the day he died and had a small range built on the Hyannis compound.

He was carrying? Any info on his CCW of choice?

    • AbnMedOps says:

That’s interesting. Do you recall a reference to JFK carrying? Cooper wrote that GWB kept a 1911 in a nightstand in WH bedroom. He also mentioned a reference that Winston Churchill carried a 1911 throughout WWII – I would not at all be surprised by that. A little more concealable than his old broomhandle Mauser. 🙂

  5. Uncle Dan says:

I did the $25 per quarter thing starting back in ’05. Just do it.

Of course the leadership of the NRA with their millions of dollars locked into transferable machine guns will be lobbying to repeal the Hughes Amendment and allow average people access to Full Auto items without the obscene expenses involved, right? Oh, they’d never intentionally decrease the value of their collections, you say? I see.

I haven’t run the numbers but I’d be surprised if the cumulative cost of $200 transfer tax stamps represents the major factor in the valuation of most NFA full-auto weapons. Maybe for junky stuff like Ingram M-10’s (aka “MAC 10”), but not for desireable collectables which are going to be valued much more on scarcity and condition. If NFA was repealed today and full auto M-4’s were on the shelf at Wal-Mart tomorrow, it would not increase the supply of genuine WW I Vickers watercooled MG’s or original 1927 Thompsons. (unless there was an Amnesty, and thousands of hidden, cosmolined machine guns were dug up on old farms across the land – which I suppose could happen…)

  7. GW says:

I have been a life member since 1998.

  8. Joe Flowers says:

I’m with GHWB, who renounced his lifetime membership due to that anti-gov’t fear-mongering nut, Wayne LaPierre. As long as he’s in a leadership position, I won’t support them and the fearmongering. That’s not so say I don’t support other 2A groups. That said, the fact that gov’t could NOT get anything passed (not “better” background checks or even closing private sales without checks) after Sandy Hook shows just how far we are from being threatened despite the all the fear and paranoia.

Mark my word, the 855 ammo ban won’t happen. The police have already come out against it, pointing out that M855 hasn’t been an issue for them. Congress will overrule anything even if the ATF try to go for it (though the ATF does seem to be run by idiots–legalizing the SIG brace, then saying holding a pistol to your chest or forehead magically turns it into a rifle is moronic).

Note–a google search didn’t pull up anything about JFK CCWing, but who knows. I do know Nancy Reagan and Nancy Pelosi both carried a gun for awhile.
