Lego Goes Halo?

Friday, October 1st, 2010

Are you in anyway butthurt that the Halo property went to Mega Bloks instead of big kid of the block Lego? Yeah, unfortunately that’s not going to change any time soon. Luckily, with these custom-made weapons from brickarms, at the very least your personal army of minifigs can shoot like the Master Chief, if not look like him. The needler, plasma pistol, and energy sword are yours to command in a variety of colors, including cobalt, purple, gunmetal, silver, and transblue. Also available are a multitude of other weapons from all manner of fiction, each with a name generic enough to avoid copyright violations.

You can get yours at: http://www.brickarms.com/Default.aspx

It’s a Stampede (ECS)!

Thursday, September 23rd, 2010

Nerf’s newest N-Strike blaster, the Stampede ECS, is perfect for taking potshots at those annoying neighbor kids who won’t stay off your lawn. The fully automatic blaster has a Grip-pod-style pop-out bipod that detracts from the forward grip, and a blast shield to help defend from any counter attacks. Included with the blaster are three 18 round magazines, one six round magazine, and 60 darts. Having one myself, I must say it’s a pretty awesome toy. My only gripe is it takes “D” batteries, and 6 of them at that. So when you’re picking up a Stampede at the store for a sneak attack on your family, friends, or your neighbor’s yappy dog, don’t forget to load up on the batteries to go with it.

You Can Never Have Enough Multicam

Wednesday, September 22nd, 2010

Feel you need more Multicam in your wardrobe? Then you need to place your bid on this sweet custom made Jedi Knight tunic set. Featured at this year’s Dragon*Con, it was worn for only 3 hours by the creator. It comes in two parts, the first a large size Tru Spec Multicam Combat shirt with the hook and loop patch backing removed from the sleeve pockets. The tunic itself is sized as a men’s Large in two ply fabric with tabards that are sewn into the shoulder seam and hang down the front with an obi that velcros around the waist. Included is a Clone Wars Galactic Republic patch that’s not sewn on the tunic. Finally, a piece with both tactical and cosplay functionality.

Freddiew’s Youtube Vids

Wednesday, September 22nd, 2010

Director and Youtube partner freddiew has released a number of imaginative videos covering a variety of subjects. The ones of most interest to me, however, are those dealing with gun play, like the above ‘Chrono Trigger: Short Action Scene’. Using airsoft weaponry, special effects, and good old fashion talent, these videos are very entertaining, if not always realistic, and rival even the biggest budgeted action flicks. There are even tutorials on his alt channel for those who want to try their own hand at making combat scenes and more. And yeah, he did aim a little high from cover; but it is just a video.

Halo: Reach Launch Party

Sunday, September 19th, 2010

I recently attended one of the many midnight launch parties for Halo: Reach thrown at various retail outlets across the States. Not sure what to expect, I found the local GameStop where I pre-ordered my copy already full of people barely after 10:00 P.M. I prepaid, got my pickup number, and waited in the store. There was pizza and soda, but very little in the way of entertainment; Halo Legends was playing along with the same continuous loop of Halo: Reach related videos, so I spent most of my time conversing with the other fans in attendance about the game itself. About fifteen minutes before twelve, we were all told to wait outside the store in number order. The first ten people got Reach related swag in the form of a poster or display item. I was number 25, so I got jack. Even so, not a bad night at all.

Since we were allowed in only 5 at a time, I had to wait a little after midnight to get my long-awaited copy, but when I finally did, I rushed home and started to play. This is definitely the best Halo title yet. And no, I didn’t get her digits.

Editor’s note: This article was prepared by Tactical FanBoy. Expect to hear more from him soon. The pic isn’t of him, it’s of a female gamer who was protesting the launch since the new Halo doesn’t include Master Chief.
