SSD Blocked?

We’ve received a couple of reports that SSD has recently been blocked by web filters at several bases. Has anyone run across this?

We had that at our post if we used .com instead of .net in the address bar.

  2. Adam says:

It was still working in Iraq on NIPR this afternoon, unfortunately it wouldn’t surprise me if they did block it. Their is really no legitimate appeal process and many other popular blogs on 2A and Firearms related issues are blocked just because they’re blogs. The main way I get around it is using google reader but some blogs don’t include the full article on their RSS feeds SSD does thankfully so even if you were blocked I could still see the articles just not the pictures.

  3. Sean says:

As far as I know, it isn’t blocked on the USMC NMCI firewall. I will check again tomorrow though.

  4. John M says:

It wasn’t blocked on the USAF firewall yet, however a lot of blogs are being blocked, even those without the .blogspot.com type addressees. ITS Tactical is one example.

  5. Rich says:

It wasn’t blocked but it was “non-existant” on the USARAK network last week. Still able to get to the page other ways though.

  6. Lautlos says:

You are working like a charm in Korea. Thanks god … nothing else is.

    Ditto.

  8. Administrator says:

The .com thing makes sense as the page automagically redirects to the .net. Savvy administrators don’t like that, and with reason.

  9. Sean says:

Just checked, and everything is still good on the USMC NMCI network.

  10. edgar says:

If i use .com instead of net it will here in Afghanistan

  11. Manny says:

Makes it through the USAF firewall here in Oklahoma

I’m on one of the most restrictive web filters in the western world (I can click through to about 10% of your advertisers) and I get you 5×5.

  13. Administrator says:

    Thanks guys

  14. Dan says:

I don’t know what I’d do if I lost this site at work. It always stimulates some good chat. Thanks for all the hard work!

  15. Simon says:

We use Websense and it is allowing SSD but not tacticalfanboy.com

  16. jonathan says:

Department of Homeland Security servers have not blocked your site

  17. Administrator says:

    That tacticalfanboy is a menace, don’t go there if you are afraid of seeing b o o b i e s.
