An Odd AUSCAM Sighting

No sooner than he comes back from the dead, Libyan dictator Gaddafi’s son is seen wearing a pair of AUSCAM combat trousers used by the Australian military. Naturally, this caused quite a stir in the Australian press. Good thing that Crye is working on that new son-of-AUSCAM pattern.

That’s an odd thing to wear, in that part of the world. The thing we really try to keep under wraps is our desert pattern cams- they don’t trade them with military surplus stores anywhere here in Australia, out of fear a terrorist will obtain some for masquerading as an Aussie.

The older type shown have been in service for over 20 years and are widely copied, so the cat is out of the bag on that one.

Wilbur, you’ve obviously not stuck your head into a disposal store lately as they’re swimming with issue DDPCU and DDPC webbing.

I don’t know why Aussies are making a big deal out of this. He’s the son of a rich dictator, he can get whatever he likes. Even I have those pants!

  4. scott says:

No big deal being made out of it…this hasn’t even made the news here in Australia.

Oddly enough, I got it from an Australian news website. It was on a couple of them.

Ok…that slipped through to the keeper then.

Mr Gaddafi more than likely purchased the pants in Australia on one of his many trips here with his brothers. The Gaddafi family apparently have a sizeable real estate portfolio in Australia.
