New gun culture magazine ‘Recoil’ hit shelves after SHOT Show and almost immediately sold out. At least almost everywhere. We are in DC this week and ran across several copies just sitting on the shelf in a books store, so we decided to liberate them and give them away to our readers.
As you can see, there are three copies of ‘Recoil’ and each will be given away to a different reader along with some SSD swag. Yes, these include the psycho clown target.
Here’s how we are going to do it. On this post on SSD, tell us your story on how you just missed getting a copy from the news stand. Three winners will be chosen at 1200 GMT on Friday 30 March, 2012. Make sure you comment with a valid email address because it’s how we will contact you. You’ll have 24 hours to claim your prize from when we send the announcement email to you. If you don’t reply with your address, we’ll select another winner. Void where prohibited. Must be 18 to enter.

I started checking at every grocery store and bookstore I went to as soon as it was announced. I never saw it on the stands. 🙁
I’ve been away on exercises for the last month.
I was never able to find a place that actually stocked it – which was surprising to me, living in the gun-friendly state of Texas…
i`m from old europe, germany, a longtime reader from ssd, i was at shot show this year, i had so much stuff in my rucksack (a huge one) that i havent enough space for a copy of this awesome recoil magazine. please help me 😉
I looked everywhere near me and nobody carried it. The closest bookstore is 45 min from me. By the time I got a chance to get up there, the magazines were gone.
I’ve checked every store around here that stocks magazines, especially the ones listed by Recoil as being carried there. Unfortunately no one around here stocks it so I’m gonna have to wait for mailing subscriptions to start to get one.
My brother got a copy but I can’t find any around her

I have scoured every book and grocery store within half an hour of my home like a fat kid chasing brownie crumbs, to no avail. I sent a message to recoil on facebook, they told me to ask my local bookseller to stock it. a bit late for the premier issue, though. hell, I even sent my wife out looking for it, and she even went along with it. I will straight up trade you costa’s beard for an issue.
I never even saw it around here – not at the grocery stores, not at Wally World, not even at B&N. Either it sold faster than lightning, or the magazine distributors really don’t get Northern Indiana.
I had one in sight at the bookstore, the last one of course, and I reached for it the same time an older gent was reaching for it. His hat had veteran’s pins on it and he had a look in his eye… I’d like to say I let him have it out of respect, but truth be told there was a hottie over his shoulder and I made a decision to look gallant in front of the lady. I went home empty handed on both fronts. Should have grabbed the magazine to show my dominance;)
I got deployed to Afghanistan……:)

I live in BF Arkansas. Nothing near me has any books or magazines. I guess they don’t think we can read. Anyhow, I’d color in a copy of Recoil if I could get my hands on it.
My dog ate my copy. For reals.
I’ve been on the drop zone when they come out. When I do get the time to get one, they are all gone.
Never saw it in any newstand around here. I looked and looked but it never showed up. I definately need a free copy (the subscription card is on the inside ya know)

This girl with a flute stole mine. She distracted me with stories of depraved band-camp students and their debauchery. You wouldn’t BELIEVE what she can do with that flute. I was as surprised as you! She launched into the stories normally enough, but every one started with, “This one time, at band camp…” It was like ‘Rain Man’, if ‘Rain Man’ was about a ginger-headed band-camp sex-freak. And yeah, she stole my copy of ‘Recoil’.

I live in the state of CA so anything gun related is hard to find in the Latte slinging bookstores ran by hippies out here! Help!
We can’t really miss it, ’cause I haven’t seen it in Canada.
Wasnt able to grab a copy as I am serving uncle Sam in a nice sunny and warm place. It would go well with the other mags my wife mail me mo they though. I ask for “meat eat” style mags and she sends DIY home stuff and hot rod mags. Lol. God bless her. I bet she’ll never find this one out there though.

they dont sell this magazine in my hometown, i would have to drive 2 hours to lexington ky to get one.

the mag is not available on shelves in my AO and I tried to subscribe but they said they weren’t set up for that yet.
I work from 6am to whenever we finish work and tht can be too late to go to all the places that sell magazines barnes&noble,supermakets etc.and gun mags are a hot item in this small arizona town,and to top it off a co worker has one and won’t even show it off…Damn!

I’d love to get my hands on the magazine, but I have yet to have seen a single copy where I live. The family knows me to be magazine junkie, so this copy will satiate my “appetite”…..and least for a while.
Despite living in a large city (or perhaps because of it) I have not been able to find any copies. I even asked the big chain bookstores and even though they have it listed in their computers, they never received it at any local stores.
I have 3 month old and 3 year old boys and with their agoge-prep I couldn’t get to the sto’ in time to get a copy of recoil. On the plus side, my 3 year old can now throw some helacious knee strikes! This kid’s gonna be lethal with an E-Tool before hes 4.
Also, wife was too busy making dinner to run to the store to buy me a copy.
In summation, please choose me; its for the children.
My small town stores won’t even stock it yet. I’m just out of luck until they start a subscription service.
I saw it on the stands at BN, went to get a coffee and came back and it was gone. The store only got 2-3 copies and clearly the other SSD reader in NJ bushwhacked me and got it.

I was stuck in a VA hospital for 30 days with a bad stomach condition. My trooper wife went to (she claims) 10 different bookstors/wall marts looking for a copy. Had no idea it was so popular till I got out. I felt bad sending her on a goose chase
I saw a copy of it at the local grocery store and thought, “Nah, it looks cool, but I’ll pass for right now.” A few days later went to the same store and it was gone. At the time I thought “Oh well, no biggie.” That’s about the time I started reading all the rave reviews about it, and I’ve been forehead slapping myself ever since, lol.
I was that close – reading about this new magazine on SSD, decided to go down to my local newsstand to pick up a copy.
Then I realized that there ARE no newsstands where I live, so I drove 25 minutes to the closest substitute – Wal-Mart. But they don’t carry any interesting magazines, and driving to a city which might have it would cost me more in gas than the cover price – so I reluctantly gave up on the whole idea.
But SSD came through for me – gave me another chance by bushwhacking J26 out of his copy! Well done, SSD.

Plain and simple, you snooze you lose. This magazine is a real hit in sunny California, cuz there were nine to be found in a 100 mile radius of home. Thanks for the second chance to score a printed copy!

I live in Massachusetts – its against the law for shops to sell that magazine (probably).
I bought them in DC. I would have thought the same thing. In fact, considering the location, it’s probably why they hadn’t been sold.
I was walking down to the store to go get a copy until I took an arrow to the knee.
Went to barnes and noble everyday for two weeks, nothing. Let the manager know of a new magazine to add to their extensive display. We will see what happens
Send a friend who lives in DC to pick me a copy and send it to Spain. 14 hours after his “Going for your copy now buddy!” he emailed something about taking a free drink from a strange lady and being abducted by a crowd of mimes, hippies and drum players in a park… McPherson Square?

I didn’t get my copy because I live on a base in Afghanistan, surrounded by ANA (who seem to like to shoot at us) and we don’t have a PX. But I did get a pair of MP-5s last week for my arms room/carry. They would go nicely with a copy of RECOIL and some SSD Swag.
checked and called the stores in town nobody had it even at the px on ft. sill ok really like your magazine can you send me info for a sub.
I’m hospitalised due to partial IED detonation. Allthough they wouldn’t sell it where I live anyway. True story!
I hit drug stores, bookstores, and grocery stores and it was already gone. The fact that I live in Phoenix probably played a part in the quick sell out.
My magazine budget has been significantly decreased this fiscal year. I had to choose between Recoil and Club International.

Late breaking news of this magazine has put me behind the pack as I’m just now learning of it’s existance. I will check the local Wal-Mart tonight for a copy but being in a rural town I doubt they’ll have it. I would love to win a copy.
I’ve gone to 4 different establishments in search of RECOIL magazine and all have been sold out. I cannot wait to get my hands on this magazine!! I’ve read many reviews on it and it sounds like a great mag taking a new twist on gun reviews, since they’re actually reporting BAD things about the products they review. I’ve also heard the photography in the magazine is exceptional! PLEASE send me one!!
