Win a Copy of ‘Recoil’ Magazine

New gun culture magazine ‘Recoil’ hit shelves after SHOT Show and almost immediately sold out. At least almost everywhere. We are in DC this week and ran across several copies just sitting on the shelf in a books store, so we decided to liberate them and give them away to our readers.

As you can see, there are three copies of ‘Recoil’ and each will be given away to a different reader along with some SSD swag. Yes, these include the psycho clown target.

Here’s how we are going to do it. On this post on SSD, tell us your story on how you just missed getting a copy from the news stand. Three winners will be chosen at 1200 GMT on Friday 30 March, 2012. Make sure you comment with a valid email address because it’s how we will contact you. You’ll have 24 hours to claim your prize from when we send the announcement email to you. If you don’t reply with your address, we’ll select another winner. Void where prohibited. Must be 18 to enter.

Feel free to share this with your friends.

Well, I first saw news of this new magazine here, and it immediately spark my interest. Couldn’t located one near me in CA, including the PX.

  2. Kyle says:

No stores near me carried it so I never even had the opportunity to buy it

  3. Todd says:

I couldn’t get a copy of Recoil because I live in California & they only have magazines like Vegan Lifestyles & Occupy Living available at my eco friendly hippy co-op anti freedom organic socialist bookstore . Please I need to read of this thing called “Freedom” I’ve heard about .

  4. Mark says:

Definitely give them to the guys downrange.

  5. I checked multiple stores even two Canex’s which carry gun friendly magazines.

  6. Jonathan says:

In recent months I have traveled back and forth between out 2 coasts with several stops in between. I have looked in every bookstore, gun shop, airport kiosk that I have been to, NO RECOIL ANYWHERE!!!! Nothing tells the morons I have to sit next to on the plane that I’m not interested in their kids or cats like a good gun mag. There’s only so many times I can read “American Sniper”.

  7. Mike says:

Damn, that book store is probably right around the corner from me too.

I live in DC/NOVA and I’ve been hunting high and low for a copy. Even tried to order online but the website was sold out. I’ve tried The B&Ns in Arlington, Manassas and Reston, two or three Books a Millions, several groceries stores and a few Targets. Whenever I go into a store with a magazine rack I’ll check. Just no luck on my end.

Hell, you guys in the US have it lucky. Here in the UK we’re all too sensitive too read about guns let alone look at the pictures. Still, I managed to get a copy on my computer using Zinio but you can’t read that on the can without attracting a bad rep. Plus it doesn’t come with the clown target.
If I win I’ll happily send money for the postage.

i have searched in 3 counties surrounding my own for a copy of recoil. it is no where to be found!
even at the magazine stand, the guy said he only had 5 copies and he sold them all in one day. then no more till next issue…i mean dang, 5 copies?
    well thats my story.
i would love an issue to tide me over until i ship out to basic. (and a free keep calm shirt would be cool to have for the june costa carbine class)

I saw the magazine at the newstand on my way into work. Got stuck doing two emergency aortic dissections in a row. When I left work 18 hours later, our newstand was closed and they were gone the next day when I came in!

  11. Larry M says:

I live in hippy land, San Francisco. This city has no gun stores and no cool magazine to read.

    • Todd says:

I have the same problem you do , I’m down in the Peninsula but at least we have gun shops even if they are anti black rifle “scary” guns .

Hook a (LEO) brother up! Here in the Durango area of SW Colorado, just looking for a magazine like this will have the local hippies claiming a violation of civil rights (look up zombie march Durango on youtube)! Not to mention that the local mom & pop magazine stands/bookstores almost require a medical marijuana card to buy anything anymore. One shop owner even threw his tambourine at me for even asking. I need this!

  13. Eliot says:

I was in AFG when this came out, took a couple of days off to sleep and eat in clean sheets and a kitchen not covered in dirt, and could not find it anywhere in Hampton Roads.

I went on leave from VA to FL, and while traveling, I stopped for fuel twelve times in the nine days looking for Recoil, (we covered a ton of miles) and me and Tactical Barbie were looking in every Wal-Mart, Books-A-Million, Barnes and Noble, gun shop, gas station, PX’s in Fort Bragg, Jacksonville, Tampa, Warner-Robins AFB, Langley, NOB, Little Creek…we even called the bookstores we found on GPS as we were passing big towns.

I don’t know how close I was, but in many cases, the person running the newsstand/trade would say, “Recoil? Yes, brand new and sold out in two days, I wish we could get more, I would put them on Amazon.”

I was at the mall about to get my copy when suddenly every american nightmare became true. That’s right! MidEastern Terrorist Bears shooting Lasers! As they blew the magazine stand in less than a second, the blow took me down. As you might guessed already, the bears thought I was dead and left me there (I mean, TV always say you have to play dead, right?). When I woke up, I was alone. I couldn’t remember exactly what happened, everyone fled or died. I only knew I had to get out of there ASAP. Then it got to me, I was about to buy a RECOIL magazine. My face transformed as I saw all of the copies burnt to ashes, it was the worst sight. SO, after the “Oh, the humanity” monologue, I left… But that’s when the Spetsnaz showed up…

  15. Gus Gonzales says:

Finding this kind of stuff in Austin Texas (center of all that is liberal, green and generally useless in this State) is a challenge. The few bookstores we have left in this town ain’t even heard of it 🙁 I’d be more than willing to sign up online for a subscription.

  16. Jason Welin says:

Never found them available in Alberta, Canada…. But my vision may have been blurred from tears… From never receiving my Gun Girls calendar that I won at Christmas time!

  17. Anthony Rios says:

I live in Jersey city NJ and the only place I can find Recoil for sale is in new york city in Manhattan at Barnes and nobles. I called ahead they said they had 1 copy left I asked them if they would hold it for me and they said yes. So I took the path train to Manhattan and walked the remainder of the way to Barnes and nobles. I walked up to the register to get gave them my name and told them what was being held for me she went to look and came back and said its not there one of the other associates must have sold it by mistake.

    Hey guys!

Simply I live in Australia, and our range of magazines is really limited in this area, thank god we have Contact! But even that is a rare as hens teeth to find at the average news agents/fuel station.

Would really love to get a copy of this mag so I can subscribe a well! Would even throw in for the postage!

    Regards, Ad

  20. Manny says:

Unfortunately it wasn’t available at any of the newstands or bookstores in my area nor at my local Exchange so I didn’t even get a chance.
