Legion D27 Tourniquet Pouch

20120605-151957.jpg

Legion Firearms has just released their new D-27 Tourniquet Pouch. Pulling double duty as an admin pouch the D27 was designed by Army SFC Jason Crosby (callsign D-27) based on his experience in OIF and OEF. Notice the center pull design. The horizontal design and high chest mount is meant so that both hands can access the tourniquet without reaching to an awkward position. Additionally, the design accommodates the C-A-T and SOF-TT

It’s manufactured by FirstSpear and will also be available through Dark Angel Medical and War Sport. Offered in MultiCam, Coyote, and Ranger Green.

Is that the new Lancer L7 magazine? I hear they’re the heat! I want to get these for our team. The T-pouch is sweet 2!

Glad to see more products like this, as I’m glad for the competition, free market and all. I can’t help but see a strong resemblance to the S&S Precision tourniquet pouch that’s been out for at least a few years. The only functional difference I’m seeing is simply the pile (velcro) tape on the front flap. I can fit both SOF-Ts and CAT (or the S&S precision t-quet) in the S&S one as well.

This product is functional, yes, but nothing new or innovative e.g., “The horizontal design and high chest mount is meant so that both hands can access the tourniquet without reaching to an awkward position.” I could slap that sentence behind most tourniquet holders on the market and it wouldn’t say much about the product itself, except maybe that it has the capability of being placed in those positions. This is simply a matter of user choice, not an inherent characteristic of the product. I’m not trying to be a jerk, but as a end-user of many of the tactical nylon products out there, I’ve noticed quite a bit of intellectual property being copied and sold as something new or innovative. Reference the recent MATBOCK backhand GPS carrier which was a very close copy of the LBT one. I’m not saying this is a direct copy of the S&S, but is eerily similar. Just sayin’…

Not really interested in dredging up old BS but I’d like to point out that the LBT GPS carrier bears a striking resemblance to an altimeter wrist mount used for MFF. It wasn’t an original design.

I did notice a similarity to the S&S tourniquet pouch when I looked at this. However, the S&S model is very specifically built to accommodate just the tourniquet. This one is a bit bigger and is made from softshell material which allows it to be overstuffed a little.

I noticed that (the material difference). Again, I think it’s cool, and usually, very little ‘new’ on the market is truly unique or never been done, so I appreciate and welcome improvements and such.
