    * The AT weapon is an panzerfaust with an panzerschreck (raketenbuchse) shield.

Joe got just as bored then as they do now.

I understand that it had speakers that blasted out Wagners Ride of the Valkyries. I love the smell of panzerfaust in the morning ,smells like victory.

Mobile S.A.M site! Watch out though, that panzerfaust has a lot of ass behind it so the kick is gonna hurt like a
    bit%$!!!

Well, as an old, seafaring commo guy, that’s a direction finding radio set (the antenna is a dead giveaway). Probably set to pick up GI walkie talkies and handsets, which broadcast on a frequency of roughly 3.6 MHz.

That’s all I’ve got to constructively add to the conversation. What the hell a Fallschirmjaeger, a donkey, and a Panzerfaust have to do with anything is beyond me…

Hmm, on second thought, could it be an IED rig? Donkey walks towards radio transmitter, receiver triggers P-faust, tank blows up? God help the poor donkey…

    • SSD says:

Yeqh, I saw the DF loop as well. What’s really funny is that the guy is a Luftwaffe Falschirmjaeger.

  28. Steven says:

This guy is obviously very proud of the custom work he’s done on his donkey. This photo was probably taken in one of Germany’s eastern campaigns at one of the famous “Pimp my Donkey” contests in either Croatia or Eastern Poland. At the time these events were huge morale boosters for the soldiers far from home and family.
