New DEPSOC 360 Video from MMI Tactical

DEPSOC 360 was developed by HDI and introduced by MMI Tactical long before the US Army camo improvement program. It was actually developed for use by Snipers. This video shows it in a variety of settings.

I like that they had a couple guys in some of the environs. It would be nice to see more vids and photos from other manufacturers that have 5 or 6 people in their camo in a single ‘shot’.

I can’t help but feel like these promo vids and pix are about location, location, location, not the adaptive function of the given camo pattern. Production crews are going to find the best locations to suit the product they are trying to sale. Our servicemen won’t have that option, as they have to go to where the fight is. I’ve also got to deduct points for none of the vid “models” being geared up with combat hardware needed in the field which also challenges concealment.

I agree, if you have got something truly world beating and different ,showing the competition side by side is the way ahead. These promos seam very self indulgent.

I’m the Graphic Designer, Marketing guy, and uh… “videographer” at MMI. I find it flattering that you think we are a “production crew”. We are great at a lot of things, but shooting video isn’t one of them. We don’t have the skills or budget to make elaborate setups with lighting and set crews to make the perfect shot. We literally walk around in the woods and go “hey, you kinda disappeared there, let’s shoot a video.” We are targeting the hunting crowd more now, so we didn’t feel like combat gear fit that need as well. This stuff was designed for snipers and hunters, so they often WOULD be choosing a hide site much like we did for some of the shots. Besides all that, we would be stupid (and very bad at our jobs as marketing people) if we DIDN’T choose the best shots to use in our videos. I understand and appreciate your criticism, but ya gotta be realistic about what we’re trying to do here. Thank goodness the camo is so effective on its own, because we are by no means a professional film crew.
