“I Declare War”

This trailer ought to stir some debate. It’s for a real movie featuring a group of 12-13 year olds who fight out a real war in their neighborhood.

Thats pretty fucked up. I’m not really sure how I feel about it right now, but I’m almost positive I will not be seeing it. It’s easier to watch adults do that to themselves, rather than children. Reminds me a little bit of Lord of the Flies.

  2. noble6 says:

reminds me of a true story movie about child soldiers in South America “Innocent Voices”

  3. Toby says:

I’m intrigued… I’m not sure how ‘Lord of the Flies’-esque it will be, whether a modern interpretation or not. I think I’ll definitely have to see this one just to know what’s going on

  4. Strike-Hold says:

FUBAR. I bet they’re trying to make a point about “war games”…

  5. Archangel says:

If you watch closely you’ll see a few shots of “wooden” and other hand made fake guns. I think this is being taken out of context to build hype for the movie. It seems more like what the kids imagine while they’re playing war.

  6. Spunk says:

Def looks like the “guns” are being imagined. I’m sure they didn’t make a movie where kids go steal thier parents guns and hunt each other down. That would be EXTREMLY bad taste. I remember being a kid and running around in the woods playing these same type of games 20 years ago. These clips are just trying to generate hype and I’m sure we will be hearing people freak out about it for months.

  7. muabdib says:

Wish Samaratin would have allowed us industry losers to get some product on these kids.

  8. Eric B says:

Certainly appears to be a nod to “Lord of the Flies”, but seems like it might be more a commentary on how children are being perverted by images of glorious war and gun violence. If that is the point of the film, I vehemently disagree! I was one of those little kids out playing war in the field and so were most of my friends. Only a precious few of us joined the military and, to my knowledge, none have become crazed killers. Although there are plenty of those who think all of us ex, or current, military-types are just that and it started when we were sick little kids playing war in the back woods and fields. Not on my watch list yet.

  9. Sal Palma says:

This looks like a contemporary makeover of William Golding’s Lord of the Flies.

  10. INF says:

    Looks sick.

  11. Jesse says:

How is this different from Hunger Games aside from possibly not being imposed by adults. Seems like they are playing off that hype and just threw in “scary” guns for effect.

  12. DD says:

Misguided. Sick. Really bad taste. If there is any relation to Lord of the Flies, it’s definitely truncated and way off. Dunno who the producers are but they need to have their heads checked. I can’t imagine anyone enjoying this who is not somewhat disturbed. Yikes.

It seems “Calvin and Hobbes” like. The kids are really running around with sticks and toys, but the movie seems more about what goes on in their imagination while they’re playing. Reminds me of when I was a kid. I’ve never stopped a war for juice though.

Why do they leave only one kid as SECFOR at the FOB? These children have AT-4’s at their primary weapon system on a foot patrol in dense forest….what are their parents teaching them?! Let’s get some 5 point contingency plans in there briefed back to Skipply before we try to conduct passage of friendly lines at the other kids tree fort so there’s some order to this process. C’mon kids…get it together! It’s a war out there!
