    You have all those people who dye their dogs for dog shows why not just dye ’em camouflage.
    I know it’s a drastic/crazy idea but it beats getting shot at.

      maybe there’s a temporary dye that can be shampooed out so it’s not permanent.

        Hair dye doesn’t need to be temporary because the fur will grow out over time leaving only the tops colored which you then simply cut/shave off. Also, don’t forget that many breeds of dogs shed so with shedding breeds you’ll lose your dye soon enough because the dog will have simply shed off all of its dyed fur replacing it with undyed fur in their place.
