Happy Presidents Day

While Presidents Day was originally established in 1885 in recognition of President George Washington, it is now popularly viewed as a day to celebrate all U.S. presidents – past and present.

Come on guys, it is not presidents day and it never was. It is Washingtons Birthday.

“Contrary to popular belief, neither Congress nor the President has ever stipulated that the name of the holiday observed as Washington’s Birthday be changed to “President’s Day.”

Lets give our first President the credit he deserves. Media has pushed the concept of “Presidents Day” for 20+ years now, but just because you say something over and over again does not make it true.

When I was a kid, President Lincoln (who I share a birthday with) and President Washington’s birthdays were observed separately. Granted, two Federal holidays in a short month is inconvenient in some respects, but to celebrate the asshats who’ve been President as equally as we do the handful of really great ones is, in my mind, just plain wrong.
