Cobra buckles seem to be the modern equivalent of the 5.11 “travel vest” for identifying CCW holders.
I would have to agree with that statement and add any rigger type belt to that list, but the title says nothing about conceal carry just “every day”. I would like to know a little more about the belt like width of webbing and if it has a plastic insert? It looks like the wider material is doubled, but I can’t say for sure.
It appears to be built like the majority of cobra belts that style. The width is 1.5″, and it is probably double layered scuba webbing.
It looks like they’re using the 1 inch buckle and if they are doubling the main body of the belt and if (I know if is a big word) they have 2 layers of belt material, 2 layers of one inch (to hold/adjust the buckle) and a possible layer of plastic, its going to be a beefy belt. I wonder if its a 2 belt system like their others? And if you adjust the buckle out does it “hang off” the wider material? They’re just across the bay from me so I’ll have to see if I can get a better look the next time I see them.
It would be 2 layers of 1.5″ with 1 layer of 1″ on top.
Perhaps, but you wont see my belt or really the buckle for my overshirt. I use an older style under duty belt, but something like this may interest me buckle notwithstanding
Even if it does say that, the guy wearing it is probably a friendly on your side if shit hits the fan. Anyone not carrying a weapon or not law abiding will have no clue and that’s the main issue.
Excellent point!
The picture is meant to be a teaser for the belt which will be released on our website this week, but we have had a lot of questions, so we’ll just go ahead and break the details here as we have on our facebook page.
What we wanted to do (for ourselves, at first) was to build something that struck an elegant balance between rigidity and EDC comfort.
Our EDT belt consists of a double layer 1.5″ dive belt from the points of the hip around the back, and then tapers down to a single layer of dive belt where it crosses itself in the front while being worn. The end result is a consistant double layer of material around the circumference of the belt, instead of a thicker 4-layer area in the front under the buckle. The 1″ webbing attached to the small cobra buckle does not extend around the belt, to keep a slim overall profile. We will also offer a similar belt in 1.75″ width.
If you’re looking for something comfortable enough for EDC but rigid enough to hold your kit – then the EDT belt will be a good fit.
