America…A Nation of Go-Getters

“Americans murder with everything — with cars, with knives, with frozen fish — whatever’s at hand, we’ll kill a motherfucker with it, because he needed killing and we’re a nation of go-getters.”
–Robert Brockway

Kinda crazy…but said with gusto! I got a laugh from the frozen fish. I personally draw a line between (justified) “killing” such as self defense – which is also usually considered legal – and “murder” which is generally used to describe illegal and unjustified killings. But I can’t say I’m familiar with the name. Who is Robert Brockway and which is he really celebrating…murder or killing?

“There are men in this world … who go about demanding to be killed. You must have noticed them. They quarrel in gambling games, they jump out of their automobiles in a rage if someone so much as scratches their fender, they humiliate and bully people whose capabilities they do not know. I have seen a man, a fool, deliberately infuriate a group of dangerous men, and he himself without any resources. These are people who wander through the world shouting, ‘Kill me. Kill me.’ And there is always somebody ready to oblige them.”

What a rubbish quote, whats it got to do with soldier systems?

  5. Toby@BCT says:

Really? What does a quote about killing have to do with soldiersystems? Lets examine that statement. What is it that soldiers do, I mean what have I been doing for over 19 years? Training to kill then executing that training on individuals that ask for it, ne; beg for it. I see a complete relevance to that quote on a site that is for soldiers and by a soldier.
I find you lack of understanding to be in question as to why Steave would even visit this site to begin with. I am a man who loves peace, I love shaking the hand of a “good man”, but make no mistake I have no problem putting an end to someone who is going to to harm to me or my own. So Steave while I am sure you are a fine person and have a gentle heart, this is a site for armed professionals. It has a following for those who will only see combat on a tv screen but make no mistake this a site for those of us who do what others either can not or will not. Soldiersystems can put what ever it wants on its pages and further more a quote about work is relevant to what people like me and my own do. GOD bless you Eric and keep up the good work.

I believe Robert Brockway is a writter on the comedy website cracked.com. This post may just be there because its kind of funny and true.

Prisons, incidentally, may be the best repository of stories about (a) weird implements, and (b) people walking around basically asking to be killed. The most inventive case I can think of was as follows:
Prisoner finds out where on-site the institution had once dumped discarded cigarettes, paint, etc. Plants some chickweed, which while innocuous (it’s quite healthful, in fact), it also filters from the soil heavy metals like cadmium (which is very unhealthful). Cigarettes and paint chips are excellent sources of cadmium. Prisoner harvests the bounty, makes a few culinary modifications, plus combines it with regular tobacco and like substances, and (with a little help from dilatory prison doctors), voilà: liver failure.

I’d love to know who this guy is and what context it was said in. Essentially he’s right, though he set the bar pretty low. A simple attitude adjustment should suffice in the situations he described.

Dueling and mutual combat should be legalized everywhere.

I concur with many of the above statements, but would change from “Murder” and “killing” to “Asswhippin'”. I’m finding quite a few people have become so accustomed to threatening others without consequences, that they end up becoming indiscrimate threats.

I think the occasional “asswhipping” from a trained professional would quell these n’er-do-wells from starting off.

Or as I like to say “Punks jump up to get beat down.”

Well, it was his quote. I don’t like murder either, but it’s the word he chose.
