    Great picture. Drive On Airborne, Drive On! I don’t care what anybody else says or thinks, these guys were the best. It’s about time all American citizens – and not just us older vets – realize that it’s because of the Vietnam Veterans that we never had to fight the Russians. Thanks to all the Vietnam Veterans who trained me to be a good soldier, leader, and a Marine.

    How did he fight with no PT belt, no IOTV, no gloves, no helmet and no eyepro? And he’s got a doggone monkey? 10 bucks says he’d go out the wire with more than 8 armored vehicles, too…

    Correct on both counts. We did not have to fight the Red’s, and we received benefits because of those guys. God bless them!

    Its funny I was just reading a brief biography article about RKB two days ago. This was one of the included pictures. I’d kept a number of the early 80’s SOF’s I’d gotten as a kid. Although I’d read it years ago I didn’t remember much about it and was entertained by it.

    Dont you guys know back in the day, each SF officer got issued a monkey upon completion of the course.
    It was a program to replace orderly’s. “Manpower problems” you know!

      No, he was issued a much, much larger M16. 🙂

      His hands look like the GI Joe figures with the Kung Fu Grip™ that you put grenades and pistols and rifles in. It all makes sense now.

    Ah yes, RKB long before he started Soldier of Fortune/Fiction magazine, featuring his probably-truthful travel-logs of mortaring Soviet forts during the Sov/Afghan war, and even longer before he made it onto the board of the NRA. The pose is a little disturbing though.
