The sleeves are composed of 50/50 nyco ripstop with loop panel and hook and loop adjustable cuffs. The torso is made from Cyberknit JL3021FX Cordura baselayer fabric, which is 55% cotton, 37% Cordura nylon, and 8% spadex with wicking and antimicrobial treatments. Why do these companies insist on using base colors (for the body of the shirt) that are so drastically different from the camo? Also, cotton? Really? Are they simply trying to save money or is it just their way of trying to make it affordable for people looking to buy such items?
Well, it does say it’s a cotton/nylon/spandex mix, with antimicrobial treatment, so it doesn’t sound like they’re skimping.
Out of curiosity, what material would you suggest instead?
It looks great but i want a darker color for the body of the shirt. Maybe black or a darker shade of brown. I like that it’s 50/50 nylon cotton and the semi fitted collar sounds a great idea. I think i want to go for the multicam camouflage patterns.
The idea is that combat shirts are to be worn under body armor in hot environments. The wearer should not be actively engaging in combat without body armor so the color of the fabric matters less. What does matter, in a hot environment, is when the wearer is resting and the body armor is off. Dark colors, which absorb light, are hotter to wear than light colors, which reflect light. Thus, making the body of the shirt a light color means that wearers stay cooler when the body armor is off.
