TNVC – FLIR T70

FLIR T70

The FLIR T70 is an uncooled clip-on thermal weapon sight designed and optimized for use with NATO 5.56x45mm and 7.62x51mm rounds with an approximate 500 meter range. It features a low, in-line opto-mechanical profile that compliments current Rifle Combat Optics and is suitable for weaponry featuring flip-down or removable front sight posts. The FLIR features a x1 default field of view for center of mass hits at 500 meters, and a x1.5 field of view to allow the operator to display a wide area of regard for situational awareness. It also functions as a standalone weapon sight and hand held thermal viewer.

The FLIR T70 is powered by either 3 AA batteries, 5 hours at 20 degrees Celsius, or 2 CR123 batteries, 4 hours at 20 degrees Celsius, and the batteries can be replaced without removing the sight from the weapon. It features the standard white hot/black hot polarity modes, although it can also show images in full color using several palette modes:

Gray (Grayscale) Palette – provides maximum contrast on targets against a uniform background using black and white shades.

Iron Palette – provides a color scale that goes from dark red through yellow to white to represent increasing temperatures.

Rain (Rainbow) Palette – uses all the colors of the rainbow from red through green, blue, and yellow to violet to represent increasing temperatures.

Ice (Fire & Ice) Palette – displays blue for cold targets and red for hot targets.

The FLIR T70 comes in a Flat Dark Earth finish.

I really should have married that 60 year old, millionaire, cougar instead of my hot wife. I’d have so many more toys. 14k is a little steep for me at this point.

What is the digital output, compared to the L3 CNVD-T2 (which they also sell) which is 640×480 I think?

Who could afford this thing? Not a regular person that is for sure. The only person that can buy this is the government. And what is even weirder is that they use our tax money to buy them. But we don’t get to play with them. Bummer. Oh well.

Would be nice if stuff like this came down in price so the working man could have a shot at buying stuff like this,

Folks who purchase equipment for their units and agencies read SSD too. We aren’t geared toward just the individual purchasing for himself.

New technology is always expensive. It’ll come down. Remember when people were paying that much for flat screen TVs?
