Anyone know what the current Army policy is on minimalist shoes? Last I checked they were not allowed for PT, and I’m talking about minimalist, not just “toe shoes.” The 1010 is, while a low drop shoe, hardly minimalist, but the ’20 is either minimalist, or blurring the line even if it isn’t zero drop.

i along with a few other military folks have been running in minimus for a while now and no one has ever said anything to us. i have heard and read in a lot of different places about the five finger shoes not being aloud but that was it… of course your leadership always reserves the right to be more stringent. i suppose that probably didnt help you but either way i would recommend using minimus at least on your own time…

    • Mac says:

The only thing I have read from an official source is that Vibram Five Fingers (and variants) are not authorized. I believe the exact ALARACT mentioned that minimalist shoes were okay as long as all toes were contained in one compartment.

No toe shoes. Everything else is good to go.

  3. blue says:

anyword on release date, or if they will be available at all aafes

  4. Rob says:

Anyone have any more word on this? These colors look awesome, but I have not seen anything else on this anywhere..

    • SSD says:

What’s the word you’re looking for? You saw info on it here. Do you for some reason not believe what we told you?

      • Rob says:

I believe you took my inquiry the wrong way. I was simply asking if anyone had more information about this (release dates…etc) Not questioning the integrity of the post.

        • SSD says:

Fair enough. I checked with the Norfolk NEX today and they weren’t in yet. Based on Roland’s answer, I’d say it’s time to start checking your local base.

    • Buckaroomedic says:

Join the military and go purchase a pair at the Exchange.

      • Rob says:

I really wish I could buckaroo.. but once I figured out that KAG and Team 6 wouldn’t let me try out due to color blindness.. I stuck with my airsoft rifle… Why join to just hang around in the regular army? Yeah I could get some awesome shoes.. but that aint worth it.. Ill just spray paint the current minims shoes I got. THX!!!!

  5. Hi,

The NEXCOM orders shipped last week and the AAFES orders should ship by this Friday. These shoes should be hitting the shelves in the next couple of weeks.

    Thank you,

    Roland

  6. Will says:

Will these be available on the AAFES web site too? I’m currently deployed and my current MT20v2s are very worn out.

    • straps says:

      Hopefully on-line is an option.

My local exchange rarely stocks fitness gear in any kind of military motif other than military wife moto gear.

And when they do, the man sizes fly off the shelves. I know a dude who wears size 6.5. He can go to a backwater exchange and find any footgear he wants.

  7. Hi Guys,

I checked with the folks that work with AAFES – they do plan to offer these two models on-line. I just checked aafes.com and didnt see them up yet.

    Thank you,

    Roland

  8. Veber says:
