This week’s post from Tactical-Life.com covers D3O Lab’s Reactive Protection body armor add-on. D3O is a non-Newtonian polymer material, and when worn underneath traditional body armor can absorb and mitigate the continued force of a stopped round, reducing or even eliminating shock effects. Through its TRUST (Trauma Reduction and Unrivaled Shock Technology) label, D3O Lab is producing knee and elbow pads, boot insoles, helmet pads, and a jacket with pad panels for military applications.

Throw some higher denier grade mesh on it, a back pad and some panels where the armor is for sliding and I might pick one up for motorcycle riding.
Exactly what I was thinking, this might be useful as motorcycle armor, maybe under a lighter weight jacket. When I first saw the image and before I read the headline I actually though it was motorcycle armor and was wondering why there was an article on motorcycle armor on SSD.
For those who are curious, the image in the article is of the D3O Covert Impact Vest, which is currently in use with the French gendarmerie.
They do make bike pads and clothing using D30 already.
About time D3O pads make their way into mainstream tactical wear! Good to see others beside DRIFIRE incorporating D3O product.
I’ve been wearing D3O pads for years in my KLIM motorcycle adventure outerwear.
D3O pads have mitigated bodily injuries from several mishaps.
The armor is a nice fit for a tour through rough terrains. I think the design is good enough to provide both safety and style!
