For once, the Army has given the SP4 the perfect excuse. They are buying two different patterns and calling them the same thing. No matter how blue in the face the Sergeant Major gets, the SP4 will still be right. This is a Abbott and Costello routine waiting to happen.
GS has got it right(a furtive Obi-wan Kenobi gesticulation and look) – “It’s OCP Sergeant Major – it’s OK to wear it and go about my business”. Sgt-Maj “It’s OK to keep your OCP’s on and you should get on with you business”. Use the OCP-Force, Luke…
Whether it’s OCP or Scorpion – it looks good and it just works. *shrug* The Aussies, the Brit’s and the Kiwi’s all have their own ‘customized’ flavour of it, why shouldn’t America? If one looks hard enough – HELL! You’ll even find pictures of Canadian CANSOF warriors wearing it!! Bottom line – Caleb Crye’s revolutionary camouflage just works and works well. Use it. Often. Cheers and thanks, SSD. A very happy Canadian Thanksgiving salutation to all here and all of you at SSD
Not trying to be a rod, but versatile is not revolutionary. It’s a compromise when you don’t want to spend money. Australia and Britian have very different terrain than most of the US. Everyone go ahead and argue that, but if there is ever a war here, Multicam will be a poor compromise. Something like a slightly less green Pencott GreenZone would be the best choice. Its useability in various seasons is amazing.
Not necessarily so, the US is so large with such diverse terrain that no one pattern would be perfect. Take Multicam/OCP for instance, there are parts around where I live that I pass by all the time where OCP would probably work perfectly and you would stand out wearing any sort of woodland style camo pattern. Go to parts of the East Coast then you’re looking for something akin to CADPAT to match the terrain. Part of the Southwest you’ll want a desert pattern to keep from sticking out. Point is, no one pattern is going to work perfectly across the entire US which makes OCP a reasonable compromise because it works reasonably well almost everywhere.
This is the instructions I will be giving my Joes once the CAARNG allow us to start wearing it (soon I hope). Just might make “OCP is OCP” my platoon motto for a bit.
People still don’t get it, the E9 mafia is inside the smartass E4 mafia OODA loop, this is some Sun Tzu shit with a flare of Clausewitz and a frightening Orwellian foreshadowing of things to come… The E4 mafia has grown up, gotten promoted, killed some muldoons, and even figured out how to shut up smartass feckers who think they can win arguments by splitting meaningless hairs. We have evolved.

never underestimate the immensity of shenanighans that can occur in a garrison mentality army.
We all laugh and joke at how absurd such an idea is, but i can wager a months worth of income that its going to happen. Some senior NCOs and officers are legends in their own minds and love letting everyone know how “smart” and “in charge’ they are.
There is a bright side to this: at least it wont be as drastic as the transition period that occurred with BDUs, DCUs, and the then new ACU uniforms.
i dont think that will go over well
Why? It’s OCP.
because the sergeant major knows all and sees all !!!

OCP is Scorpion. Scorpion is OCP.

This OCP thing makes me twitch every time I hear it, makes me think of the Robocop movies. OCP was the evil corporation in it.
X2. Skynet is next…
Skynet already lives: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/sci/tech/6434773.stm
It’s already here… Big brother has been watching you…

Thats brilliant right there.
Only Boyd could explain it better.

Tick-Tock, Tick-Tock, Tick-Tock, Tick-Tock.
They should change the spelling to “Sc-ocp-ion”.
“Wheels on the bus go round and round, round and round…”
LOL
SSD, is the bamboo telegraph saying anthing about a wear date for OCP army wide yet?
Insert PVT Murphy’s Law cartoon here: SGM’s eye twitching from unioform inconsistency… AND THERE’S NOTHING HE CAN DO ABOUT IT.
Add overdyed brownish UCP TA50…
You down with OCP, yah you know me!
