I just ordered 3 pair, I liked the external durability of the ones we got unfortunately I got issued one’s with defective heels where a plastic insert had cracked. Once it was removed it was fine. At that price point to me it’s worth the gamble. I got two for me and one for my father for the holidays.

  2. Jeff Clement says:

Our battalion got a bad run of the Wellco RAT boots. The soles of mine (and dozens of others) started falling off within a week. Much prefer the Danners…

Though, as Matt said above, at that price point, it might be worth taking a chance.

It really was hit or miss too. Some guys wore them on boat ops no problems, handled the rocks and hills in the stumps fine. Than others just failed while breaking them in walking around the bn area. But for 50 bucks I’m willing to risk it.

I was under the impression that the Bates version of this boot was the most troublesome.

  4. Kyle says:

Got my pair thanks for the heads up and savings

  5. Woody says:

Damn. Already ordered a pair yesterday morning, as soon as I got the email from LAPG. Oh well, still a great deal. Thanks for the coupon code anyway. Maybe I’ll buy a second pair.

  6. Riceball says:

Thanks for the heads up, I’m going to have to order a pair even though I prefer to avoid ordering online from in state companies, I really hate to have to pay tax on top of shipping. But at $50 with an additional $5 off I’m willing to make an exception.

  7. Thomas says:

That made $8 shipping only cost $3. Thank you!

  8. JD says:

I got mine today. The soles look a little rough on the finish. Rough edges and lacked continuity. I was suprised that they had vibram soles though. For 50 bucks look alright. Real value will be if they hold up well

  9. Kris says:

Turns out they are factory seconds i just got an email from la police gear informing me of the error and offering the ability to either return the boots or keep them and get a $5 refund.

  10. Micah says:

Bought two pairs. Received the email from LAPG same day as boots arrived, so I looked them over thoroughly, and have found issues with sizing differences between the two pairs (both are supposed to be same size) and with insoles. I’m returning mine… 50 bucks for something that’s problematic out of the box is no savings….
