I was a boy scout for a single day. Needless to say, I got in trouble quite frequently. Looking back, I would have loved to have been a boy scout during my childhood. I was, however, in the Civil Air Patrol for several years.

Same. They moved scouts to the same night new episodes of Star Trek TNG came on TV and since we weren’t camping, making fires, shooting things, or really any of the stuff that I envisioned when I thought of Scouts I had to choose Star Trek.

“Ex” Eagle Scout; earned in 1967. As a young scout abused by a homosexual troop leader, I sent my ES badge back to BSA when they started welcoming homosexuals. Now support Trail Life USA, which now stands for what the BSA used to stand for. (And I couldn’t care less if you flame me)
Thanks for standing up when the BSA wouldn’t. I have been wondering what my sons would do when old enough for Boy Scouts. I haven’t heard of Trail Life USA until your post, I think it is what I was looking for, thanks!
Good for you! That type of response takes courage. I am so very glad that my two sons are no longer associated with the BSA.
I am sorry for what you had to go through. However I do not feel that one of my best friends in scouts being homosexual should change my opinion on the BSA, nor make me ashamed of my Eagle enough to send it back. It might be a generational thing… but I feel strongly that orientation should be treated the same as religion in scouts.
I heartily agree, there’s no room for discrimination in our modern world.
