For American Sniper, Mechanix Wear recreated four discontinued models of their gloves that were used by US Military personnel during the Iraq war: Core-Four Original, FastFit, M-Pact, and M-Pact 2.
If you’re wondering, Mechanix Wear doesn’t have any plans to bring these gloves back to market. If anything else, it serves as a reminder on how brands have progressed since the start of the war.

They cared so much about authenticity that they re-made discontinued gloves but then they put a Ops Core VAS shroud in the pic?
Mechanix wear is approached by the producers to supply gloves.
Mechanix wear looks back at what was in use and sees that it’s no longer in production.
Mechanix wear restarts production (costs a tonne to do that) to build a few pairs of gloves for the movie.
Mechanix wear doesn’t get script approval or to visit the set and play queer eye on all the other kit.
They probably didn’t even get a pair of tickets out of the deal.
I can’t stand their gloves, the stupid things peel apart.
Really? Never had a pair fail on me, or heard of them having issues.
performance gear vs endurance gear. performance gear is asked to do hectic things and do them well, but at the cost of endurance. endurance gear is asked to hold together over the long haul often at the sake of performance and comfort.
Huge fan of the Original mechanix gloves–bought a few pairs when things started getting “fancy” so that I’d have me for the long haul. It’s either that or the Camelbak ones.
i still use fingerless weight lifting gloves but hey im old school like that LOL
Always cut off the first two fingers on my right hand, but I kept the others, especially the left hand in case I had to grab or clear away something hit/sharp.
you make a valid point and from my experience you’re right
Anyone else use baseball gloves? I had a pair from when I attempted to go to batting cages….then transitioned to shooting range. I can hit steel plates a hell of a lot better than that damn baseball!! They are colorful though…but after some break in they grip nicely.
I have some of the Mechanix gloves but my daily carry gloves are the PIG Alpha gloves
The Alpha gloves seem to be the closest “tactical” thing to baseball gloves, which I also like for shooting, only problem is most of them are in fairly bright colors.
I’m a big fan of the SKD PIG Alpha gloves. I first started using them about 2 1/2 years ago, and never looked back. They’re beyond comfortable, and the double-joint articulation in the trigger fingers of the gloves are unlike anything else I’ve experienced in any other glove I’ve tried.
I wish that I would have bought a case of the old gray SW Motorsports Vent CT gloves when they were available…
