The Grayl Water Filtration Cup

120651_legend_travel_steel_exploded_1500p

Grayl is a portable water filtration system which functions similarly to a French Press. It consists of an 18/8 stainless steel inner ‘press’ cup, the filter which attaches to the inner cup, and the BPA-free plastic outer cup. The user fills the outer cup with water, then presses the inner cup into the outer cup, where the water is then filtered and delivered into the inner cup.

Grayl offers multiple filters for use with the system. Their strongest filter, the Travel purifier, utilizes a patented triple-charged mesh which traps pathogens, natural carbon (made from coconut shells) which traps heavy metals and chemicals, and an integrated anti-microbial agent which suppresses the growth of mold, mildew, and bacteria. It is guaranteed to improve taste and smell of filtered water, along with filtering out 99.999% or more of bacteria, protozoan cysts, and viruses.

  1. John Smith says:

This looks like someone from Apple’s design team had a hand in the aesthetics.
In spite of that…this goes on the list to replace my aging Katadyn. Very nice gear from the looks of it.

  2. We got two of these and they work great. Only thing I wish was it had a steel bottom. Then the cup could be used to boil water if need be. Grayl said that ask you got to do is pry the plastic bottom off.
