Patriot Ordnance Factory – Puritan 5.56 Barrels Now Available

Patriot Ordnance Factory has just released their Puritan-series 5.56 barrels for individual sale. Constructed from MilSpec 4150 chrome vanadium steel, the Puritan barrel features a 5R rifling profile with a 1:8 twist rate and the patented E² dual extraction technology. The barrel is also nitride head treated, increasing surface hardness and offering a black and corrosion resistant finish.

    I thought the jury was still out on 5R for 5.56mm projectiles. On such a small diameter projectile, the contact area is nearly identical to traditional four groove barrels i.e. no real benefit.
